With the rudder attachment point so close to the wheel swivel point and the wheel swivel point not under the rudder hinge, a slight movement of the rudder will deflect the wheel substantially more. It may over steer the plane. FWIW!

Hi guys,

Question on cutting the cowl. I'm using a DA-70 with the compact mufflers on my laser. I've cut 2 holes for the mufflers in the cowl but am not sure if I need to cut an additional intake for the carb. The instruction manual doesn't show a carb intake slot being cut. Are you guys cutting the cowl under the carb or are the front intakes with baffles enough to get air to the carb? Thanks!

I cut one for my carb didn’t change a single thing. Don’t do it. Baffle it add enough exit for air and low pressure lip and you should be good

I did not cut a hole for carb and the DA70 is running like a top. Don't do it!

I did cut a small carb hole and before that I did have engine issues

I did a small hole mainly to allow any spitback from the carb a way out the cowl. Don't know if it made a difference in flight but the inside of my cowl is clean.

That is what I did and the DA70 is running like hell
