Help!
Hacker Troubles

Hey guys, I dont know whats goin on? I have been flying around my FF MX2 with a Hacker a10-9l motor and a Castle thunderbird 9 and an Eflite 430mah 2 cell batt. with no problems. I went out to fly it today and the motor (coughs and hacks) when I get to the 5th click of throttle. I took the prop off and it has no trouble seems to me like it is loading up with the prop on. Has anyone had this problem?

Thanks for your help, sooner or later i will get this RC thing.

I had a similar problem with a GP rimfire motor, I do not know if this is the correct thing
to do but adjusting the timing fixed the issue. It had flown fine for 4 flights previously.

I have had this as well, it's probably nothing to do with the motor. Either adjust the timing on the ESC or try resoldering the esc connections. I have had a cold solder joint cause this. Once I just had to replace the ESC.

thanks guys! I am assuming that I need to get the Castle link thing. I have looked around but do you know of any other way I could set the timing?

It doesn't seem as though you can adjust the timing on that one.

Why cant airplanes just work? My esc cuts off the motor and gives four beeps (indicating a "prop strike" or some other impact) due to the fact that it is about to jerk the motor off the front of the airplane. it runs backwards ( very rough) but SOMETIMES i can get it to smooth AFTER I barely inch it up past its rough spots and then it runs like its supposed to.

Just so everyone knows who researches the same problem, I sent my ESC into castle and they sent me a new one. Very good to work with.

well..... I just put the new one on (esc) and after about 4 minutes of flying it, the motor quits... I still have the control surfaces working but the motor just dies. I pick it up. ... it still has plenty of juice to it but then 45 sec later... it dies again. and so on. Now what is going on... Over voltage??

It's possible your batteries internal resistance is growing with usage and can no longer sustain the motor/prop load. Just for fun try a higher discharge capacity pack and see how it runs. Or you could go down to the next smaller size prop. Those little a10-9l have some very strong magnets and really give the ESC and battery a workout.

What is the throttle ATV set to in your radio, and is the speed controller soldered directly to the motor?

I had the same issue with the A10
