Biplane choices, now sorted.

Hi, im looking to purchase a pitts 12 from dolphin (goldwing?) in the next week or so has anyone got one or a mate with one? just want to know what the hardware etc is like and any build tips. If anyone has any other 50cc bipes i should be looking at feel free to point it so i can have a look.

I will either pull the dle55 from my H9 extra or fit a electrifly 65cc ep motor and run it on 12s.

oh i should add i prefer the "stretched" look not the scale "stumpy" look. Budget is $1300 so either 600-800 for a EP version (leaves a few dollars for motor) or $1200-1300 for gas airframe.

I it's like the other planes from the same range you get every thing except radio gear servos etc. Give Yong X a call at Dolphineco she will send all the info you need. Don't put their servo arms on plastic disks.

Oh i should have clarified i already have a few of their kits (very happy except for rudder hardware) and was about to buy the 55cc pits but thought id ask if there was any other plane out their in my budget i should also look at. I already have all the electronics and dle 55 from my H9 260, which i want to retire.

Looking at other pics on the web, it looks exactly identical to my PeakModel Pitts S-12. Hardware was "fair", DLE55 is super power. Only complaint is the wing tubes are too small for the plane and too short. After a few aggressive flights the top wings are a little sloppy. I may attach them with Epoxy or add some flight wires. Requires lots of rudder to aileron mixing to clean up knife edge and rolling.

When this wears out I'm going to get an AeroWorks S-12.

That's the animal! I enjoy flying my PeakModel Pitts, but it's only 3/4 the price of an Aeroworks, but only 1/4 the airplane.......JMHO.

I have a 50cc Pitts 12. I got mine direct from the manufacture CHModel in china. This was before Peak and Dolphine were around. I'm using a 3MM53.
The hardware was not the best, no instructions and the covering tended to come off. However it flys great. I'ts not an overly good 3D'er as the Ail are to far out on the wings and if I push it to hard the wlying wires either streach or break.
It fly's scale lovely though.
The new range of Pitts 12's are a lot better now. I have another supplier in China, so if you are looking for 1 give me a PM.
Cheers
Grossy

A majority of the wood arf's that come out of china are from 1 factory that's the 1 that produces goldwing, peak,
cermark, slipstream EG and a few others, That's why most of them look the same,

My goldwing 50cc Pitts had issues after just 8 flights. The wing tubes for the top wing are much to short, it should be 1 CF tube instead of two. My wing was not assembled correctly, and after a few flights the tube in the wing broke loose and cracked all the ribs holding it in. There was also pictures in the GW thread showing the wing of a GW Sbach breaking off in flight. Instead of rolling the dice on a GW plane look at the AW Python, it flies much better and will hold up.
