How to mount a Power Expander?

Hi!

I recently got my PowerSystem Sport Plus which i will use in my SD-Model 30% Extra 260. What is the best way to mount the PowerSystem? Can i just screw it on? I don't think the receiver and the PowerSystem likes vibration.

BTW: I'm new to gas

I talked Smart-Fly about this when I got my first one, and they said that the rubber grommets are just fine. I simply make a mount appropriate for mounting the expander on the grommets, and bolt it down. Haven't had any issues doing this with two planes.

Here's how I did it on my Dalton 260. Has been working just fine for at least 100+ flights.

Thanks for the answers. The way you're mounting it is much easier than suspending it in rubber band like someone does with their Powerboxes...

I added what I think will be a little more vibration dampenning - I have about thirty flights on this set-up with no issues.

Re: How to mount a Power Expander?

Thanks for the replies! But now I've got another small problem. Where do I mount it?

#1 On top of the canister tunnel
#2 Partly on the canister tunnel
#3 Partly on the canister tunnel and partly on the rudder tray

I think #2 and #3 are the best looking options, but I'm worried about interference from the rudder servo, especially with #3. Whats do you guys think?

Re: How to mount a Power Expander?

I wouldn't suggest putting the expander right on top of the servo, but it doesn't necessarily need to be a million miles away from it either. Look at mine. My rudder servo has a speed 400 in it. If anything is going to generate noise, that monster will out do any standard size one. Looking at the photo above, one can see that I am a few inches away, and everything is A O K.

Re: How to mount a Power Expander?

Thanks Freddy! Then I will try to mount it just in front of the rudder servo (Hitec 5955 if that matters). This is the easiest way to get it mounted, but if I get interference I will move it. Will post my results here if anyone is interested...

Re: How to mount a Power Expander?

Not to change the subject, but I ask smart-Fly a while back about proximity of the Turbo reg, and the expander concerned about possible interference. The way I have my stuff mounted is exceptable. Look at your expander, The reg is right at where the receiver will be mounted.

Remember to route the antenna to a clean path away from everything.
