ghoffman printed products thread
Hey all,
I have got several sets of baffles, small parts, and a choke guide from Gary and they are all awesome. I wanted to start a thread about his printing as a place to share what he has made for us and a spot for ideas on things me might make in the future. Let the discussion begin!! |

OK, thanks! I will post all of the stuff I have designed later, it is going to be 60F today so we are going flying!
I guess maybe they should be organized for each plane, then the general use things (like cable organizers, choke rod mounts etc)? |

That sounds good Gary, looking forward to seeing what you have so far. I'd like to see some kind of receiver mount for futaba where we need the antenna to be 90º apart too.

BTW, I am upgrading the printer now. It should come as no surprise to anyone here that aftermarket Hot Rod parts for 3D printers are now available. I spent the weekend flying my 106 Edge and Rare Bear on 6S, then came home and got into the printer. I ordered new trick extruder heads with that have better, more uniform heating for faster and more precise parts.

what printer are you using??? I've been itching to get one and have just been waiting for the technology to get a bit better and of course, come down in price.

I use a Makerbot 2X. Most of the cheaper units cannot print ABS, and PLA material is not useful for many of the parts like engine baffles. In order to print ABS, the extruders need to go to higher temps, the table needs to be heated, and it should be enclosed to prevent air currents. Then you have to whole issue of what CAD system you are going to use to generate the models. You think we have strong opinions here? The pissing contests about Solidworks, Inventor, Creo, Catia, etc, go on and on and get very heated.
