I don't own one myself. I believe they bring more problems than they solve. At least down here...

Ugh sad but true I was a paramedic for a long time and man those types of wepons take no prisioners. Unless ur hit in an extremety ur dead 98 % of the time.

but invariably... when the bad guys have guns and "Law abiding citizens" don't... that is a recipe for victimization....

there are tons of stats showing that where there is strictest gun control.... gun violence increases... Washington DC comes to mind...ummmmm New York City.... and I am sure Australia's gun ban experiment has many examples of the bad guys not giving up their guns....

Over here you need a license to own a gun. You get investigated and stuff. Plus you need a good reason to own a gun. Like being a business owner or something like that. Being the father of a family is not a good enough reason down here.

N726AC, Good choice of firearm with the 1911. I used to build them for various types of shooting competitions. I never found a discipline the 1911 wasnt competative in. I won everything from 2700 bullseye matches thru the USPSA/IPSC events. Had allmost every caliber available at one time, includeing 9x21. Wow! that brings back memories.....Gene

I regularly carry a Beretta 96D (.40 S&W) in the winter or when wearing heavier clothing, and a smaller Beretta 948 when wearing light clothing. I love guns

Not exactly the most practical gun.

Fun to shoot, though.. I rented a .44mag version at the range just for gits and shiggles. I was surprised at the light recoil; that gas system works well.

I don't presently own any firearms as my wife really despises them and gun ownership in Canada is becoming more and more dificult.

Here in Canada we need permits to purchase/own even amo now. Handgun permits are only issued for Transportation directly to/from home to Range/Club by most direct route. If you leave your house with your handgun and stop at Home Depot before or after going to the Range you can be arrested and charged! Permits to Carry are very rare and only issued to Military, Law Enforcment and Security Personel.

Collecting was the hobby, only ever target shooting no bambi slayer here and why shoot ANYTHING that flys!

S & W 1914 .32 Lever Action Carbine
1911 .45 ACP
1946 AG 42b 6.5 x55mm Semi-Auto Sweedish Assault Riffle (One of the most accurate riffles I've ever fired) - Roughly a .306 casing with .25 cal round - M16's action principles modeled after this. Packs a punch with virtualy 0 muzzel jump - vented barrel.

And my favourite..........

S.P.A.S. 12 Combat Shotgun - 12 Ga dual action Pump/Semi-Auto, Folding stock, 8 rounds up the tube, 2.75 shells - SLUGS were my favourite but frowned on by the Range Officers This is now a Prohibited Firearm which my brother presently owns but because I gave it to him before they changed the laws he is Grandfathered in.

The Movie Prop Guys love to use the SPAS 12. First seen with Arnold in "Commando," then in "Beverley Hills Cop 2", Blinged out in "Aliens"... list goes on.
