Well the 2010 Waharoa Rumble is not too far away !

January 28/29/30/31

Due to some problems securing the cabins on the airfeild in February, we have pulled the Waharoa Rumble for 2010 back a few weeks into January. However this means it is right at the tail end of the school holidays, so this should work out better .... plus the Monday is a public Holiday for those north of Taupo.

Entrys will close on the 7th January. Right now we are working on the entry forms and all the details, so they will be available soon on the NZRCAA website.

Last year was huge. 35 pilots. Three full days of flying over two flight lines. 3 Unknowns. Plenty of Knowns .... and about $12,500 bucks worth of booty was handed out. I'm guessing in 2010 we'll have over 40 pilots. Over the years we've had some great sponsorship from DA, Smart-Fly, RC Bandit, and many others. It just gets bigger every year.

28th (Thursday) is a practise day, turn up, get your sh!t together etc. The Beer and Pizza "Meet N Greet" will be held Thursday night, where the pilot draw will be done, unknowns handed out. The contest starts Friday morning, with Pilot breifing at the gentlemanly hour of 9am. (not 6.30am like in Bendigo ok you ozzies )

We are working on some more after hours entertainment like last year. Its day light saving, so its light until 9:30pm. A few ideas are being thrown about at the moment by the organising committee. We have some ideas that will be sure to raise a few laughs.

There will be some freestyle flying.

Of course on the Sunday afternoon we will have the Rumble 500 flyoff, where you can win a fist full of cash, by out flying yourself. Last year the Rumble flyoff was won by a Basic flyer, proving that indeed anyone can win the money in this part of the event.

Sounds like there is a heap of Ozzies planning on coming over. Be great to hear just who is coming. Tuncksey, Talbs, Richo, Chrispy Chips, some blokes from Perth even ? Anyone else ? Now is the time to be booking your airfare to get a good deal. If we can figure out who is coming, we can start arranging some airframes for you guys.

Anyone from McAmerica thinking about dodging the snow and coming down under for the event ? Last year John Heigl from Arizona came down and burgled Intermediate. He had a blast, and after the comp he and his wife spent a week discovering what makes NZ such a great place to visit. We laid it on. Fishing. Barbeques. Sightseeing. He said he'd be back in 2010. So anyone else who might be keen, we can promise you 25 to 30 degrees Celsuis (that must be about 85 or 90F). There were a few I talked to at the Shootout who were keen to come down, but will they actually get on that 12 hour flight to the other side of the Pacific ? Can you guys even sit still for that long ? Bind and fly makes it easy to bring just your Mode 2 TX, and we can probably find some clapped out old 80 Inch Laser for to fly in Unlimited. Actually we have quite a few 3m planes that are available. I can even loan out some Jandals so you look the part.

Good stuff Bogan. Getting in on monday night 6:15 pm, Auckland, Air Newzealand the 25th for a few days of playing around and getting models sorted. Can't wait!

RUMBLE - here we come!! Arriving at Auckland on the 27th and leaving on thursday 4th Feb. Hiring a car ( and GPS ) from Airport and hoping to stay in cabin. Anyone wanting a lift, let me know. Should be a Hoot, looking forward to it.

you made it back from the Shoot out OK then? Go the extra mile/s and come over to the rumble for another good time, you can fly my trusty "moon hopper" 260

Its hot and sunny down here ...

We test flew Jarrods new model yesterday at Waharoa ... its a 90 sized patternship ... he put four flights on it.

He's already practising the 2010 Basic Sequence for the Rumble.... lookout
