Toys For Tots Campaign

December 1, 2012 the Texas Unlimited Fun Flyers put on a benefit for the Marine Corps Reserve Toys For Tots Campaign. The toys and monies collected will be distributed in the local community. The local response was excellent. Mineola has approx 5k population, with the folks attending and pilots, contributed over $800 dollars and a HUGE box of toys for the campaign.
The pilots endured a stiff breeze all day. Far as I know, there were no mishaps, thank goodness. Pilots like these make the events a success, and I personally thank you.

After we loaded the toys for distribution, we received more donations.. I have them in the front seat of the dually. One toy, a doll, is starting to freak me out. Every time I open the door, it speaks, 'I hear you!', or 'Daadaa'. Next thing will be when I open the door, it will be in the driver seat!

That's simply hilarious...

I can tell you one of the greatest highlights of the day for me was when Tims flew Olga...been a long time... I know we all were ecstatic...

Rob sure seemed to enjoy his new Yak... Brian's new Pitts was a big surprise. Very nicely done... Catfish, Bit, Brian, Chuck, John, Jeff, David D. and Mike J. was wringing them out as well. I am sure I forgot a few names.

Glad Jeff's family made it out for awhile too. Awesome to say the very least.

What a wonderful day hanging out with a bunch of super guys...and watching the pure amazement of the spectators...especially the kidos.

I greatly enjoyed chilling out and watching all the great flying.

Thanks again John for putting this together!

Would have been a blast if you would of been here! You can come back to Texas now... The girl you knocked up moved back to Arkansas... She hasn't been coming out to field everyday looking for you anymore.

Yep, wish you could have made it.

After reading through this Blog it seems a little clarification may be needed.

Although the TUFF club members were a very essential part of this event, it was not an inception of the TUFF club per se. It was solely John Skinner's vision and initiative that brought this fine opportunity about.

The TUFF club spirit allows each club member to pursue goals important to them by garnering support within. This philosophy allows each individual equal chance to accomplish any worthwhile goal. Our club's goal is to stand behind each and everyone of our members...not the other way around as often is the case with most other clubs.

Understanding that core belief gives insight to our concept...if its not happening...you're not doing it!

And again thanks for doing it John! You made us proud.

That is correct, not a TUFF event, but the TUFF members really made it happen. Part of the message I put out: "This Remote Control Demo will include anything remote control, cars, trucks, giant scale, gliders, helis, glow, battery, foamies, TV, garage. Ok, forget the last two remote control. Anything you would like to show off to the public." and "If you know someone that is not on the email, please invite them to the demo." It shows anyone was welcome to attend and support the cause.

It was a great get together, public response was 100% positive and WE raised a bit of money and toys for the kids.
