Duralite 4000 mah 7.4v, What should be the voltage fully charged??

Hi everyone

I have a Duralite 4000 mah 7.4v, but I'm not sure that my duralite charger is working fine, so What should be the battery voltage fully charged and under 1 amp load??

Thanks.

8.4 volts without a load. Around 7.9-8.0 volts with a 1 amp right after charge.

Thanks Garret

I think the problem is in my Duralite charger because the light of chaging never turns off, I don't know why, I'm using a AC adapter that giver 13.4v and 2.5 amps.

Thanks.

Maybe your wall adapter is incorrect.... The one that I have here from DURALITE is 12V and output is 1500Mah. Maybe you blew something internally?

Damn!!!! maybe you're right

That's why I'm asking what should be the voltage of the 4000 mah battery fully charged and stop when the voltage reaches that value.

Thanks.

when you say "never" have you waited 4+ hours? the adaptor is fine 13.4 volts would be like a charged 12v lead acid

Hi There,

8.3-8.4 fully charged and stop flying when it's 7-7.1 under 1 amp load reading from the yellow lead. If you are charging the battery more than 8.4v you can seriously damage the cells.

Thank you,
Reza

Charge is rather a slow process as the charger puts out only 400mah and when it gets close to fully charged status the charge rate goes down to less than 100mah. So it is normal if it takes several hours for almost a drained battery.

i find that 2.5amp is not enough to charge the big batts - 5-10amp is better

Re: Duralite 4000 mah 7.4v, What should be the voltage fully charged??

Hi everyone,

Well I talk to some friends and we check in the instructions and it says that a battery fully charger must have 8.20 without load and 7.60 with 1 amp load.

So I went to a electronic shop and buy an AC adapter 12V and 1.2 amp, and then I connect to the Duralite charger and to the battery, and bingo!!! the light turn off at 8.17 V, So I guess the problem was my other AC adapter.

Best Regards.

first i must say that i really know very little about the duralite batteries .in fact my searching for info led me to this site. the product info for the 4 lead 7.4 volt duralite charger states that its' output is 13.5 volts at 2200 mah,so it sounds like your original wall charger should have worked. did you check its' output?maybe it was just bad all around.
