Ya with the 215 it will depend on RPM mostly. I am hoping to keep it around 6000 max.
I agree, it was really great on the 222 as well.
So far I'm really liking the 215.

I went out again today and flew the 215. remember.....45.5 lb plane with overly draggy wings and stabs (Radiocraft). I put a 31-14-2 Falcon on it and it tacked at 6000 on the ground and flew the plane very well. I feel this prop performs extremely well and will likely be the one I keep on it.
I look forward to using this in my Pro. fairly quiet, pulls really hard and its a prop I had laying around! Down line braking was decent, snaps were easier than with the 3-blades and larger diameter props. You may want to baffle the motor, Mine is running a bit warm w/o them...

I only have my radiocraft test bed plane to assess vibration so it could vary a lot depending
what airframe you use. For me it is 170ish, for very light ARFs It may be a bit more.
And don't even think of using mufflers on an IMAC bird. I was getting 53-5400 rpm.
My Falcon 31-14-2 on MTW-130 cans/5.5" headers got 6000 RPM the recommended max.
This engine will do 3D on mufflers but then that's more a 35% thing mostly anyway.
I will likely move this 215 over to my pro and it will be more than enough!
After switching carbs from the original to another DA 150 carb I had laying around, the off idle
acceleration problem cleared up. Even Walbro makes a problem child now and then.
Again, as I have gotten older, I love the one carb, one ignition 2 Cylinder approach a lot.
Dave Johnson was right, it may not appear as fast as a 200 quad but just watch it closely,
its really strong on the uplines with the right setup, it just doesn't "sound" quite as fast.
The sound with a Falcon 31-14-2 is actually pleasant. It is not fully ripping on flybys.
You can fly WOT and no one will jerk your chain.

DA is looking into headers that fit better when cut to 5.5 inches. Currently, the cans
point in toward each other and make using a set of wood mounts tough to do.
Bill Vargas came up with a really slick way to mount them. You have someone weld on a roughly 1" long by 1/8" aluminum rod to the back of the can, pointing back. Install a plate with 2 holes behind the cans and slide the cans back until they engage the 2 little rods into the 2 holes in the rear plate, (leaving room for
expansion). I thought it was a great approach and wish I'd thought of it before finishing mine up.

The Cans I will be using are JMB K-10108 as seen here,,, https://www.zdz.eu/inpage/mufflers-3-chamber-typ-m/

I will be fabricating my headers from the Do-it-Yourself Headers from DA as seen here and using their recommended Silver Solder rods,,, https://www.desertaircraft.com/colle...urself-headers

The Rear Mounts for the JMB Cans will look something like this from my last build and current compy with a ZDZ-195,,,

looks like the motor fits just fine in there. maybe the left sided spark plug cap, from what I see, hard to tell,

Bill, will the left sided (right side of the picture) spark plug cap be up against the cowl?

215 Clearance in a CARF SuperXtra 330L

Hi Cam, I used a piece of .060 solder and cut it to take an approximate measurement of 7/8in. or 23mm as seen with cap off.

Plenty of room there

After flying the 215 again today, I dropped off the defective Walbro carb and they
got me all squared away. The new carb works very well. Flying with the Falcon 31-14-2
is a real pleasure and the only down side is landings and taxi are faster even at such a low idle so be aware. I have decided to move the engine over to the Pro because I feel there is a real chance that the three blade I love so much (31-12-3 mejz) will work well on that plane as it is smaller and lighter and it was almost enough even on this current 50 lb (wet) plane with fatter wings and stabs.
I have gone with a new start up procedure on the 215. Usually, I turn ign on, choke and flip till it pops and remove choke and start. With the 215 I prefer rocking the prop 10-15 times stop to stop, turn ign on and then flip till it starts. Personal preference but the motor flips harder than I have been used to and I find this easier. The second flight and beyond only take a few unchoked flips to start. Also, DA has a very handy diagram on their web site showing numerous measurements on a 3 view.

I have since moved to a 170 size motor for that plane. The extra weight of the 215 didn't work for me but it is a quality motor. I was told they are still making changes so maybe wait a bit.
I know that Bill Vargas is using the 215 on his Carf 330sc and likes it.Personally, the DA200 is likely your best bet for smooth airframe and servo saving monster power.
