Yes. They are preferred by many of us for their durability and safety. Personally, I won't put lipo's in a gas plane, although many do.

My Promodeler servos are capable of 7.4V but they work fine in the 6.6-7.2 volt operating range of A123's. Just because a servo can handle higher voltage does not prelude it working with less voltage. My other legacy Hitec servos are non-HV and they work just perfectly with A123's as well, since A123 voltage is no higher than that of a 6V, 5 cell old-school battery pack.

Agreed. Other features are a consistent 6.6v and long life- many cycles. I personally know multiple people who have had fires in their house, in addition to stories I read online, from LiPo fires. While I do have some, I am consciously trying to rid myself of them and those that I have I store with extreme care.

I've been using A123 batteries exclusively over the last 10+ years. I refuse to put lipos on my planes with only one exception - a giant warbird with Robart electric retracts that needed more voltage than 6.6 to work properly/ consistently.

Lipos go only in a few EDF jets I have and then I am extremely careful when charging, discharging and using them. I never have to worry about my A-123's. You can't beat peace of mind and simplicity.

You know I been a a123 fan sense we robbed them from Dewalt packs. But I just bought a plane that has two Booma RC 3600 Smart Li On's in it.I got to say I am impressed the way they hold a charge and the number of flights you can get.I know nothing about these batteries,I suppose they have the same risk of fire?

I will add my vote for the A123's. I leave them in my plane all the time, including while charging, and I leave my plane unattended in the shop while charging. Like everyone else, I use LiPos for the power packs in my electric planes but those batteries get very different handling.
