I had a set of smooth pipes once on a 3W redhead TS. The rpm's went up and my EF 300 flew awsome! However, the woodruff key couldn't handle the extra RPM's that the engine produced on pipes. After the 3rd woodruff shearing event I went back to cans and never had that issue again.

I would suggest a bigger engine if your wanting more performance.

my 2 cents.

Feel ya there, Bill. My buddy had KS 1060s on a 106. Couldnt keep a Mejzlik 28x10 on it. Prop bolts kept shearing. This was long before the carbon spinner and backplate phase. It was 7300 on the ground. He eventually reduced his throttle ATV to where the engine spun around 6700 on that prop.
