Air Police

for all you full scale huckers out there, my company just told us the faa is mandating that controllers report pilot deviations (aka: brain farts) ......they added that if the controller does not report the pilot, the controller will also be violated

i guess its time for some serious VFR without flight following?

Hello, im with the FAA, and im here to help

Re: Air Police

The FAA has for along time now been trying to make flying a safer environment and with all the accidents lately along with the mid air today while a SR22 was on flight following and a 172 wasn't will make it tighten down more. As for you being afraid of getting into a violation, I can agree, but flight following is still worth it to me to be on the safe side. They may seem like they are out there to bust us pilots, but I would rather have big brother watching the radar.

Re: Air Police

id take flight following in congested airspace too, just not halfway between axh and pvw or what have you. all im sayin guys is watch out up there when you are in rvsm and your autopilot decides to slowly loose 150ft or you just miss crossing aants at 11000 by 1 mile or somethin,

when a cop pulls you over for going 5mph over the speed limit, how well do you appreciate him at that moment.

Re: Air Police

I had a discussion with one of the controllers from the SLC ARTCC at a fly-in a couple of weeks ago, and he told me that this "mandate" has been around for years, the F'nAA has just decided to widen the rift between controllers and the FAA by strictly enforcing it, i.e. threatening disciplinary action against the controllers for not reporting each and every action. According to the controller I talked to, if he did that, he'd make 5-6 reports a day.
