Of course we're interested!! I have my eye on this one too...although my budget is pretty dry for the rest of this season.

This looks similar to a Kyosho Corsair ARF I bought 2 years ago. Same looking cartoon pilot and retracts that didn't function properly. Oh hell, I still put my order in! Tower Hobbies $75 discount, no taxes, and free shipping for under $600 (not bad for a 1:4.75 scale!). I'm thinking of pimping it out by fiberglassing w/ panel lines. Your thoughts?

Looks like a MK-XIV although the nose is a little to slender. We used to call these "Stand-Off Scale". In that when you stood back a bit it looked scale.

I will definitely be getting one.

I was wondering about the 170mm distance. Looking at the manual it shows 170mm from the firewall not from the standoffs.

Phoenix Spitfire 50-61cc

I have a new page on my web site that may interest you. I have gathered all the information I can find on this new model.http://www.rc-airplanes-simplified.c...-spitfire.html
I would really like comments from people who have purchased this model and there impressions. A build and fly thread would be super!
The retracts have created a lot of interest and it certainly looks like good value!

I'm going to add a Spitfire to my fleet after spending some time around one this weekend. The flight performance of the Spit is amazing and looks awesome in the air. The Phoenix Models looks like the best choice because of the retracts. One thing I noticed is the CA hinges, will have to change those out. Something doesn't seem right with the nose, thinking it's the spinner. May be to long, not sure?

Hangar 9 Spitfire with a scale spinner. Think this is what it should look like?

It's a Mk. XIVc and the spinner generally looks good for this version, but I will know better once I receive mine, which was shipped yesterday. Of course MV268, flown by Johnnie Johnson, was a Mk. XIVe, not a c version, but that's alright.

Is there a consensus on the best muffler to use with a DLE 61, i.e., to limit the amount of the cowl that has to be cut? Is the Jtec pitts wrap around muffler a better choice than the stock DLE61 muffler?

Thanks,

-Ed B.

Great flying airplane three flights on it ,she floats like a dream.
Went with the DJ85 engine motor weights in at 4lb just right, the plane needs a pound upfront.
I’ll post some pics when it stops raining
