I love the idea of the Rebel Pro and perhaps that's the way I'll go but for some reason, I just can't get comfortable going much higher than $7K. The Rebel classic looks awfully good too. I am pretty well sold on the idea of getting a high quality airframe and gear. It looks like a lot of guys really like the Rebel Classic. Fast but forgiving, easy to land. Pretty much what I'm after. Having flown with Spektrum since 2.4 came out, I'd probablt stick with that. I'm guessing I'd need to upgrade my DX9 to an IX20. Yet another added cost! |

Channels you'd need with the mercury: -Aileron 2 -Flaps 1 -Elevators 1 -Steering 1 -Rudder 1 -Throttle 1 -Gear 1 -Brakes 1 That's 9 channels. If you needed a smoke channel - You could put both aileron's on one channel, you'd just have to adjust any differential in the Mercury. |

No gyros for me. They belong in helis, not airplanes.
Gyros are illegal to use in competition, unless people are changing the rules in the middle if the game..... |

So what does the gyro do for turbines? I have 2 EDFs. One is eflite with AS3X and other is Freewing Avanti with no gyro. The Freewing flies as good or better. |

Here is the actual rule under rule 5.12.2 on page 107 SC4 Vol F3 Aerobatics 19 V2 Effective 15th May 2019. Permitted: 1. Control rate devices that are manually switched by the pilot. 2. Any type of button or lever, switch, or dial control that is initiated or activated and terminated by the competitor. 3. Manually operated switches or programmable options to couple and mix control functions. 4. The use of electronic stability augmentation devices or gyros with or without speed related automatic gain control derived from a GPS signal. 5. The transmission of information from the model aircraft to the pilot on the ground of propulsion and receiver system health monitoring. I think it is important that we understand what is and what is not allowed in the rules, by actually referring to the rulebook for jet aerobatics sanctioned by the FAI. Wayne |

It defiantly helps for landing. I consider it insurance on an expensive toy.
Not having to worry about a cross wind and having the wings being level takes a load off the pilot when coming in. I turn it on and off when I fly depending on the day. QUOTE=aviti;3023405]I’m not a gyro fan either. I see the benefit in the tiny foamies but I would never have wanted one in a 100+ cc. That’s why you move to that size, to fly smoother in wind etc. So what does the gyro do for turbines? I have 2 EDFs. One is eflite with AS3X and other is Freewing Avanti with no gyro.
