Whew many of you have plenty of hours!!! I know my first 100 hours seem like it took forever to get, but the second 100 hours flew by! I decided to go the Multi Commercial route to build of Multi time. I have completed everything I need to know for the checkride, I just need 50 more hours for the 250 hour rule.

I believe I could legally take the checkride now considering I have 55 hours FTD time, but I think I need 30 hours in a multi aircraft and I only have 21.

The next few weeks I will be flying longggg cross countries all over the place to build up time.

Wayne,
I've been here for 30 days. Two more days then 5 weeks off. Maybe!
Got a new plane for Toledo that needs flying.

Scott,

I hear ya.
During the 90's when all my buddies were heading to UAL, DAL, TWA, NW and I was waiting to get an interview at Pennzoil I would have never guessed the airline jobs would like they do today.
Amazing and kinda sad all at the same time.
Where are you based?

Mark,
Call me when you get back to catch up.

But....a whopping 10 hrs of it was aerobatic training in a Pitts, which was the best by far...too bad it's so expensive

I skipped the Regionals and went straight to the low hour jobs, so Wayne has some work to do to beat me to the lowest hours at retirement. Current position as a Falcon 2000 Captain for 12 years maintaning 165 hours a year and 45 minute average legs. Fly an RV4 for fun.

Mark, how come I'm not your hero too???? I'm hurt.

Currently flying as a captain on a 7X for one of the founders of a fruit company (Apple).
Very fortunate as well, was in the right place at the right time, made captain on it @ 33. Prior to that:
Lotsa King Air time, (200,300,350), lotsa slowtation time, (550, 550SII, 560, 650), some Hawker time in the mix as well.
An inadequate amount of Supercub time (can one ever have enough Supercub time??)
Authorized instructor in the good ole' T-33, and soon to be pilot of a really bitchin' F-86.
Manager of a municipal airport, a position I hold solely for the purpose of being able to fly my RC stuff off the runway...and *possibly* make the occasional low (and perfectly legal!) pass in the jets. Anyone wants to complain about said RC planes or possible low passes...I tell 'em I'll take care of it. Really I'm just a glorified lawnmower.

Dammit I knew Daniel would've eventually read this. Dan shares Hero status with Wayne when I get a checkout in the 2000 and the Merlin.

Dangerboy,
My Dad has a Hangar in BZN with a Lancair 360 and an Aircam. I know we have spoken before. How is the 7X? Got a chance to see Bershire's 7X a few months ago in SAT. I am a G fan, but have to say I really like the lines of the 7. If you ever need a hand shinning the F-86, Just say the word. I'm trying to talk my dad into retrofitting a new gear on the Lancair and plan to be up there in a couple months for a few weeks.

Since I had nothing to do here for a month, I have finally caught up the book.

I am not sure on my total time, but over 10,000 hours and plan to work 15 more years and then retire. I too have been fortunate/blessed in my career, never furloughed and now work for a strong airline for the last 15 years......UPS.
I have flown:
most single engine planes
piston twins the Seneca, Navajo
turbine twins the King Air 200, Dash 8
Turbine jets DC8 DC9 727 (100 & 200) 757, 767, and now fly the A300 airbus

My advice to you younger guys on here starting out is to work hard and never give up if this is truly what you want to do. Also, make sure you have a Bachelors degree and I advise in something other than an aviation related major.

At your age 21, I was not much different in my qualifications. However, get all your licenses, then instruct and get as much time as you can as quickly as you can, then get on with a regional airline flying turbo props or regional jets as young as you can. Eventually the trunk airlines will hire again. Your avatar info shows you live in GA, well Delta will hire again someday and you want to be ready. Just saying.

Listen to J Williams! That was my route.

1997 ERAU grad.
1998 Continental express ATR 42/72 for 1 year then upgraded. Then ERJ captain till January 2006.
Not at "the new united" 5.5 years. On the B756 in EWR. Heading to Oslo tonite.
10000 hours and 13 years later it has been an interesting ride. I hope to retire early to avoid " flying till I die". Hope you can handle constant frustration with management and unions. I just don't take the job home with me. That is the biggest decision you have to make when flying for airlines. I am happy commuting to work and even happier leaving EWR at the end of trip!

I've had 5 hrs. LOL
2 in a glider.........great fun but a little disconcerting without an engine on the front.
3 in a Cessna (something or other) trainer. Also fun but sounded like a washing machine with stones in it.

I have one hour in a Cessna 172....lol. My fiance bought me an hour with a pilot as a birthday gift. Once the instructor heard about my RC experience he made me do everything. He even wanted me to do touch-and-goes but I wasn't comfortable with that (I did take off every time though). That was a very intense hour of flying. I have to be honest that I really prefer to fly RC. Damn motion sickness ruins it.

PS: The first take off was a little violent. I didn't give a little aileron and pulled up too fast. The instructor wasn't even phased. Those guys are amazing.
