I think you can make this lens your self., it would be clear plastic, you would shape it, heat it, and then put little woods screws to tack it down.

cam, most guys are using lights from UniLight - Dreamworks sells them here in the US - they have kits for different aircraft or you can make your own.

You can use their light controller or I prefer the LightBox from PowerBox-Systems (it's much easier to program).

Those are what is known as recognition lights, very common as aircraft get more expensive/bigger/faster. Usually only used in the vicinity of airports during takeoff/landing. Have their own switch not tied to the Nav lights, beacons or landing lights.

Another option are the Braincube lights I use, reasonable price, high quality and bright! Plus setup is simple.

I used this on a 25% Pawnee. For the price it’s awesome, and the LEDs are nice and bright. They have 5 or 6 different modes of operation too and you switch between them on your Tx.

power source

i did this:

these are the SKY candy lights

max voltage is 6 volts.

Military grade CREE LED technology. Each LED produces over 1800 lumens of incredibly bright, sunlight visible light. A great look for any aircraft, wether you are on final approach or a high speed fly by. You can not miss seeing these lights in the sunny skies. Sold in pairs

Technical Specification:
Rated Voltage: DC 4v to 6v
1 inch diameter – fits most any leading edge
Recommend 6v Ni-MH battery

WARNING!! Do NOT use over 6 volts

Over voltage will damage the LEDs (we will not be responsible for damage caused by overpowering)

We recommend that you use a voltage regulator to ensure that you keep the voltage under or at 6v max

Note: Fresh charged 6v battery can peak over 7 volts and can damage the LED

with the 4 hooked up, I draw almost 4 amps

my question??

What can i use to power this?

Maybe a low AMP ESC?

the reason Is, I would like to be able to set the lights up on a switch in my Tx, such that, when I get the throttle stick above 50%, the lights turn on.

I would prefer to use the 2 batteries that power the radio receivers
