For 30-35cc print out at 86% of full size which gives a 27% 79" wing span plane and the cowl from the Aeroworks 30cc QB plane will fit.

Hi everyone!
I started to made this model .first i have to say thank you Rmaia very much.you made great and complete job. I want to know is it ok to use mdf material instead of balsa? I think the total weight is important and i didn't exceed the 4kg till now. |

This is an old thread and he may not see it for a while, so I will try to answer for him. No you shouldn't use MDF in place of balsa, it's way to heavy and in thin form it has no real strength.

You know a 3/4" thick 4' X 8' sheet of MDF weighs in the neighborhood of 100 LBS. Slice it into 1/8" thick sheets and you have over 16.5 lbs. per sheet, and into 1/16 thick sheets over 8. 25 lbs. I guess what I am trying to say is in my opinion, it is not a great choice for building model airplanes, especially aerobatic model airplanes. Then again, you know what they say about opinions.

Ready for maiden
Hello Folks,
1st I'd like to say thanks to Rmaia for the plans. Was a pleasure to build this bird. I've re-drawed the whole thing to fit EU dimension materials and made some adjustments to solutions I did not like that much. For the canopy I've made a custom model and the cowl I got from Fiberspecialist store, which was a tinny bit smaller, but as I had to cut it open for the engine exhaust, it worked out just fine. Here I have to say I was not happy about the Fiberspecialists and their support at all. It took almost 3 Months to deliver to EU and they did not give a demn about to help me to solve the issue. The CG was set 10mm in front of the wing tube and the weight is 8.4Kg. If somebody would like to have a look, here my build log, it's in German, but pictures are international http://www.rc-network.de/forum/showt...e-Extra-260-31 I also can laser / mill the kit for you, if somebody is interested, but just within EU, as the oversees is just far too complicated. Just drop me a message. Cheers, Beldo |
