But how much do they weigh? My EVO 2500 weighs 7.5 ounces and my power system is pulling under 50 amps. The EVO's 20C rating is the truest rating out there, IMO. At 20C, the EVO's will hold their voltage, while other batteries that claim 20C will actually drop to 3.2 volts/cell or less over the course of just 5 seconds or so. Personally, I would not put anything heavier than what I have in this plane. Mine is done and weighs 48.5 ounces before adding stickers, wing retention bands, and a small velro strap. It's probably around 49.5 ounces now...

Re: Fliton Andrew Jesky Extra 330 Build

I have seen anything from the EVO 2170, 2500, Maxamps 4,000's, TP4200's and I just so happen to have two Hyperion 3200's that weigh only 8 ounces each so I am using them as well. I think the best all-around pack is the EVO 2500. I am talking 3S only here - no desire to care about the 4S setups...

Re: Fliton Andrew Jesky Extra 330 Build

Here are some weights for 3 cell TP Xtreme packs. They have a 25C continuous discharge rate except for the 3800. I was originally going to go with that one since it was lighter than the recommended 3300maH EVO pack on the website I was looking at.

2070maH = 164g = 5.78oz.
2200maH = 170g = 5.99oz.
3300maH = 280g = 9.87oz.
3800maH = 306g = 10.78oz.

Here's where I got my information:
http://www.thunderpower-batteries.co...yBatteries.htm

And the equation I used for the weight conversion was:

(pack weight in grams/454)*16=Xoz.

Of those, I would go with the 2200 and you could easily achieve the 48 ounce mark or less, the 3300 will almost definitely put you in the 50+ ounce category, and I wouldn't even bother with the 3800. Also, my EVO 2500, at around 7.5 ounces, is all the way up against the first former in the fuse and I think the plane will be a little noseheavy at that, so putting a heavier battery than that in this plane and getting the CG right will require an alternate battery mount.

Let me know when you fly yours what you think and how long the flight times are.

Will do. Here's some pics before bling - AUW is 49.5 ounces with the EVO2500. Trying xoar for the first time on this plane and my Inspire 60. I made some slight mods to the plane, too...I am using a metal pin for the hatch and it is held in, probably mostly by friction, but also by a magnet that I glued into the inside of the fuse right next to one of the holes after dremeling out almost all the balsa so it would be almost right up against the skin, I also did the tailwheel an old-fashiond way with a bend in the rod that is shoved into the rudder post.
On my way to AZ now and will do the maiden tomorrow...

First post:

Mine will be here tomorrow. I'm waiting on Andrew's assessment of the Hacker A30-14L motor, before I spring for one. I'd like to have the new switching BEC on their ESC, too. Will prolly stick with 3S right now, as that's all I have lying around.

Cheers!

Hacker A30-10XL and CC phx-45 esc. Hovers at about 1/3 throttle and pulls out to flying speed on the vertical in just a couple seconds. I saw one on 4S, though, and vertical speed on a hover pull-out is faster, as is overall flying speed. Still, I think I will stick with the 3S setup...

Re: Fliton Andrew Jesky Extra 330 Build

Ben, I just set my timer yesterday for 7 minutes. As soon as the 1 minute warning went off, I noticed a drop in performance and it went into low-voltage cutoff shortly thereafter. I managed to reset it in flight and nurse it back. It took 2375mah when I recharged it. About a minute of that was torquerolling, and I did a couple rolling loops and a spinning maneuver from altitude that also took a bit of power. Moderate flying will yield about a minute longer in flight time. Personally, I am going to go with the Great Planes/Hyperion 3200's when I get more batteries. I already have two of them and they weigh almost exactly the same but yield around 10 minutes of decently hardcore flying.
As for roll coupling, there is some, but it is negligable. It's so low that I don't think it can be mixed out. What else is nice is that the roll coupling and pitch coupling, if any, is consistant throughout the rudder deflection. In other words, it has the same coupling (practically none) in a high-alpha KE as it does on a low rate KE. You're gonna love it!
