The wing tube issue brings another subject to question. Using the temporary wing strut to store the wings and to make it faster and easier to mount the wings may not be such a good idea. I don't like the wing tubes to fit loose in the wings of a new plane. They will tend to loosen up over time making for to loose a fit.
If you use the strut held on by rubber bands when you remove or mount the wings, you could easily cause undue stress on the permanent strut if the wing tubes are snug in the wings. If the wings fit loose enough to easily slide into both wings tubes using this method, for me, they would be too loose. I think it would be safer to mount each wing individually and then mount the permanent wing strut. It's not that big a deal. Just my thinking.

My wing tubes fit vey well.

If they get loose over time, you can clear coat them to get a tighter fit.

3d printed a bit more of the Spandau.

It did not turn out perfect. I need to add more support, as you can see it turned out a bit funny some places. Im still leaning the quirks of a resin printer.

But it still looks better than the stock one

I have also ordered a os GF 40 4 stroke for My D7.

Looks pretty good to me from your pictures. Apparently there are a number of programs available for these guns. A friend of mine found one and printed a set of them for me. Painted them black and trimmed out with appropriate colors for the external mechanisms. I will have to modify the mounting arrangement for them but I think it's worth the effort.
Horizon won't have the new wing tubes I need until January so I found a place to buy a composite tube for the lower wings.
Clearwater Composites 218 481 7200. They cut it to length for me and shipped same day.
Before you order, advise you PM me for additional info.
I have the Axi 5360 HD motor mounted and now I'm trying to figure out where to mount the ESC.
I want to keep the wiring leads as short as possible. I cut down the motor box that came with the plane instead of using "Stand Offs". This motor mounts up 2 5/8" from the firewall.
I no it's just me but I'm stuck on finding a better way to do all of these support cables. I want to use the Dubro turnbuckles in order to make it easy to tighten and adjust the cables.

I like to add an extra loop to my cable connections. Have had "slippage" with simple loops.

Yes, very nice painless and I like the cable arrangement. Hopefully, they won't need adjustment but if they do, I would like to make adjustments with out removing an end of the cable assembly.
Got the "chicken hawk' decal on the fuse over the weekend and started working on the fittings for the center upper wing section.
Started work on mounting the "Aces of Iron" pilot and the mounting arrangement for the 3D printed machine guns. I'm trying to figure out how to get some pictures on here.

Received the Clearwater Composites wing tube for the lower wings. .750 OD X .625 ID X 29 1/4" Lg. Fits perfect. Also received needed hardware. I'm using T Nuts (5mm) for the motor mounting hardware and 6mm nylon insert self locking hex nuts behind the T Nuts. They included the 6mm T Nuts for mounting the motor box but the other four for mounting the motor were 8mm (to big).

Both pipes exit nearly flush with the bottom of the cowl. I'll probably add an inch or two of teflon tube to reduce oil on the fuse from the smoke system.

Hi,

my name is Werner, living in Germany in the area of Frankfurt on Main - well, excuse my English
I fly models for more then 60 years. During the last years I moved from pure aerobatics to the following types of models:

Sopwith Pup: 2,47 m / 15 kg / 12s (just rebuilding from gas to elektric power)

HK36 Super Dimona: 5,4 m / 19 kg / 12s / 80 A / planetary gear 5:1 / prop 23x14 Fiala-E
(video at the end)

ASW 15B: 5 m / 11 kg / 12s / 140 A / electro-turbine (89 mm, ducted fan with 11 blades) from WeMoTec
(video at the end)

Now I am interestet in the Fokker D.VII and picked up a lot of information from this amazing thread. Thanks for all the effort you made!
Based on this information I orderd the fokker this week, waiting for delivery now.

Due to some calculation I made with eCalc, I intend to use an Leomotion L8019-150 kv outrunner.
Prop is planned to be 26x12, 25x12, or 27x10, Fiala-E3.
I will report here again.

Just one question:
what max prop-diameter is usefull to have a reasonable distance from prop to ground?

Thanks in advance!

Regards
Werner
