I looked it up, and the 3M scotch weld 2216 epoxy is very expensive.

Would it be possible to use something I have in the shop already?

i have Vpoxy epoxy and also Hysol, which or would any of them be strong enough to use to glue on a metal thread to the inside of a carbon fiber push rod? I do not trust CA for this.

There was an article in one of the magazines years ago that showed how to make CF pushrods. Basically the author showed how he tapped the inside of the rod to accept 4-40 threaded rod, and made a sleeve from aluminum tube that fit over the CF rod, about 1/4 inch wide. After cleaning the Cf and the threaded rod with rubbing alcohol he recommended using the Bob Smith rubberized CA on the rod threads and thin CA to secure the aluminum sleeve. The sleeve prevents the CF from splitting.
I've used this system for years and have used the special CA, 5 minute epoxy, and 30 minute epoxy with no issues. I've had my share of crashes but no failures of the pushrods.
I would think that any decent 30 minute epoxy would work as long as you degrease and rough up the parts first.

I've used that method, DaddySam, but I use JB Weld epoxy. I never had one pull out, even after a catastrophic crash, they were still good to go. The Central Hobbies ends are also worth a look. I use the JB Weld with these also.

4-40 rods inside Carbon tube pushrods

The first time I ever saw this style was when I built my 2004 WildHare 28% Edge. It was right in the manual. I still do this when I don't have titanium pushrods handy

The only thing I do that's different from the WildHare manual is what is mentioned above. A 1/4" long piece of brass tubing fit over each end with CA keeps the CF tubing from splitting. I've never had one fail.

I use those and JB Weld to hold them on as instructed.
