AlllllllllllRightEeeeee!!!!!!!!
Here we go boys and girls! We want to start off with a BIG thanks to Chris and Extreme Flight RC for doing such a GREAT job on this ARF. I know a lot of work has gone in to making this project right, and it's all paid off. I had a few minutes on my hands tonight, so off to the shop I went! This first pic shows everything layed out. Pretty low parts count!! Why? Because SO MUCH work has been done for you already! Pic 2 shows the included push rods and control horns. These are much better than what we've come to expect from typical ARF's. Rudder and elevon push rods are 3mm at both ends, and already cut to the proper length. Note the Ball Links! This hardware package offers a slop free set up! And better yet, NO soldering needed!

Re: Detailed "Triple Build" from Team Outlaw!

Though the directions are VERY well writen, I chose to make like Elvis, and 'Do It My way" Pic#1 After 5 minutes of cutting away the covering form glue points, I started work on the bottom side. The lower fin needed jusssst a tad bit of trimming to get a good fit on the bottom side of the wing. You want a really good bond on this part, as it takes a lot of abuse with those not so perfect landings we sometimes do! Be sure to use enough epoxy that you get a nice glue joint front to back. Actually, I used 5 minute epoxy to speed things up a little. As long as you have a good fit, (and fast hands) you can use 5 minute on all of these parts.
Pic #2 10 minutes later, I'm glueing the top fin section in! This part also serves as the "Handle" , and really needs a good bond. The fit on this part was perfect, and they have it keyed in at many points. It formed a really strong joint when dry, and has proven VERY durable on the proto type I've been flying the last few months.

Wow,,,,,THAT was fast enough! Lets get on with some hinging now. As written in the manual, you need to set your deflection rates before you glue any hinges in. As you can see, I like plennnnnnnnnty! Pics #1 through #4 show setting and glueing all the control surfaces. This took up 5 minutes of my life!

Re: Detailed "Triple Build" from Team Outlaw!

Pic#1 Something you might want to do to your Outlaw. I like to reinforce the forward area of my Outlaws with either fiberglass, or in this case, a piece of CA hinge tape. I just cut a piece that covered the bottom area, and CA'd it in! Like the bottom fin, this area is expose to landings, and I like to stiffen the balsa sheeting up a bit. This really isnt needed, but I just like knowing it's there in case,,,,,,,,,,you know,,,,,,,,
Pic #2 As with ANY kit built plane, or ARF, I always seal the firewall with a thin coat of epoxy, or finish resin.

Thanks Neil

Well folks,we have our monthly club meeting this Wednesday, but we'll try to get a few more pics posted later in the night. Hey, all I need is 30 minutes each night!
Now that the glue has dried, we can really make time on this project. Next we'll start the radio installation, and move on to the control surface linkages. This should go REALLY fast.

Looks awesome, Larry! Wish I could have stayed longer in NC to do a group Outlaw fly with you guys, bummer! What are you guys using for engines? I can't find a place to get a replacement Webra anymore.

Hey Ryan!
Yeah,,we miss see'n ya at the fly in's buddy. The "Traveling Circus" is more active than ever these days.

If you want another Webra, there's one place that still distributes them here in the US. www.swanyshouse.com I talked to Paul yesterday. Said a had another shipment coming in now, but several of those have already been spoken for! Of course, I had to order two more! Jump on the horn and get ya one.
Who knows, maybe Extreme Flight RC might begin stocking them??????

You really need to get one of these ARF's Ryan. They're awesome!!!!!!!! As you can see, these things almost put themselfs together!!! I had one of the proto types assembled in 4 or 5 hours. And that included making the modifications, adding servo mounts, fabricating push rods, etc. Now, ALL of that is done for ya! The completeness of this ARF is amazing, and ALL of the hardware is good stuff!
So,,,,,,,,,,,,go pick the phone up buddy, and "Call The Man" !

Thats so cool that it includes the motor mount! Half of the time spent building mine involved fabricating pushrods and mounting trays, and now thats all done fo ya!

Yeah Larry those ARFs definitely look nice! But what else can you really expect from EF. When I plant the Thunderbird three feet in the dirt I'll be sure to check out the ARF version. Thanks for the lead on the Webras!

Wes, I'd be willing to bet that's probably going to happen. We had 6 in the air at one time at Fly-for-Tots and I'm sure we'll have quite a few more around for the Spring Fly-In. We'll see you there!
