I think the best thing is to contact the manufacturer first, privately. Every company in all fields can have a bad apple once in a while.

That is truly good news. I'm glad AW is stepping up to the plate to take of this. What was the outcome?

Get the 120cc Freestyle. It's an awesome airplane

What's nice about the freestyles, they fly precision and 3D equally well!

It does just fine. After taking 3 years off from IMAC I flipped to mid rates, and did one day of practice about a week before the contest. First place!

The most popular 100cc AW IMAC airplane is hands down the Yak 55.

I built a Aeroworks 100cc YAK 55 for a friend and he let me take it for a spin. I did some IMAC with it. Fly's way better then my EDGE did. I'm leaning towards it. The only thing that's throwing me off is that only one set of canisters fit it. My canisters from my edge are still in great shape.

Funboy. Is it pretty much the 100cc extra 260 just lighter and a little bigger? I was thinking about the 100cc 260. I like knowing that it still has ultracote. Isn't the freestyle a different covering?

Do any planes have to conform in IMAC anymore? Seems like they don't care now with all the totally non scale, scale, planes.

Haha I have this thought every contest... Yes they are supposed to... Do most of them? Absolutely not!! If you look at the photos from TAS, the Americans that won, were flying pattern airplanes that look scale-ish... If you look at the people from different countries they had true scale airplanes with stabs in semi correct locations and correct length fuses... I know I'll get bashed for this post but I don't care... You can not honestly tell me that a dalton MEL is even remotely close to scale... That real life extra would be 60 feet long even if it was 10%

Attached are a pic of a full scale extra 300 and a dalton "extra 300" you tell me how scale it is

The 120cc Freestyle 260 QB-L is a totally new design from the 100cc 260 QB.

Larger and lighter airframe
Bigger control surfaces with more bevel for maximum throw
New stronger lighter wing design and shape with larger wing area
New larger tail section with larger surfaces and larger boost tabs
New moments to help enhance 3D performance

I designed the Freestyle to be a 3D monster but I was able to keep the crisp clean feel of an IMAC.

The QB is covered in Ultracote and the Freestyle is covered in Premium Cote which is used by many manufactures today because it is lighter and does not wrinkle as easily as Ultracote.

Hope that helps!

My IMAC partner has ES Composite pipes in his Yak55, the vertical performance is insane and sounds oh so good!

Description:
Same thing happened to me.
I called AW to let them know I wasn't looking for anything, but there might be a problem.
I was on the sticks or supervising every flight of this plane and a staunch supporter of AW.
Vince told me:
"The Edge is just one of those perfect planes that we NEVER have any problem with. If your wing came apart, it had to be something YOU did".
Haven't bought anything else from them since...

Aeroworks 100 Edge 540 wing exploded in flight

Note the glue joint failure at the end of the wing tube where the wood was just butt glued with no overlap.
