A brand new Cessna 172 will set you back about $300,000 and the design was certified over 60 years ago., and before Phil Kraft designed the Stick as a test bed for his radios. Yes, there are newly designed airplanes that fly differently, but not much better.

Of course there are ignorant pilots that get lost going from one airport to another and blame it on the old design of the 172. If they were just flying a newer design they wouldn't be so stupid and get lost.

Thanks for all your input.
Yes Bruce, I fly at Wawayanda, you saw my first Giant stick, you haven't been at the field for some time to update you on my flying exploits.
I am not inclined to do glow and feel that electric is a much more economical choice.
Yes, the Cessna has been around for a very long time but my field is tall farm grass and I am not interested in tricycle gear unless the plane was large enough, as in a gasser. The eFlite Cessna is $400 (electric).
Are you saying I can pick up a glow or gasser for $300 complete? Maybe for the frame but then all the accessories are going to run me another 2-3 hundred dollars. That brings me up into the $600 range .
I just picked up a BNF Timber for $250 delivered. I don't think you can do that with glow.

That was a reference to a new full sized Cessna 172 to point out that old designs are not that bad.

Wishing you the best.

Thanks Instructor!

If I had the $600 I would be going gas for sure.

you have all the gear out of your stick
could have just transferred all that into a new $300 airframe

The electronics have been in several planes that have been in several crashes and I think it better to go with all new in my next plane
I would hate to buy new... put in old... and have yet another failure
