Just a reminder: before running the starter motor, it is suggested to paste 2 stroke oil or other lubrication oils on the surface of all starter gears.

Thanks.
Just a suggestion Jeame. You could machine quite easily an adaptor (half moon with full mounting face) so the starter motor can be turned to face the rear of the engine. In racermans27410 plane it would fit over the mounting wall with only a minor modification for clearance. Would also not put all that weight to far forward for balance reasons.

i did not see anything in the manual concerning the auto start system or a parts list for it.

i do like the beefy one way bearing..... it is a good design.
Thanks, Racerman27410. Lubrication is suggested before the first running and every 100 flights.
I will add an extra page as auto start manual in the package for auto start version engines.

Sorry for inconvenience.

Thank you for this very good suggestion, 49dimes. I will consider it.

thanks for your time

I rotated my carb, needles are easy to access and throttle arm lines up perfectly.....no tricky setups needed.

Couple things to note:
- Muffler mounting flanges are sanded, but rough. WAY better than my EME120 that looked horrible and uneven. I put some 400 sticky back sandpaper on the table and made a couple of passes and they look MUCH better and will seal better.

- Metal plate between carb and reed cage is very rough cast with fairly deep pits, I again used some 400 on a table top and sanded until smooth and shiny.....MUCH better. You don't want air leaks between the carb and reed cage!!!

- Internals were bone dry, I applied a couple of drops of straight redline to the lower needle bearings to help protect on the first start-up.

I just bought a 30% Pilot Extra 260. It has not arrived yet and I am entering the age old debate regarding power plant choices. Does anyone have measurements on the cowl so I can see if this plant will fit under the hood?

FWIW Here is what I use on all my EME starter setups for lubrication The Moly Dry Graphite does not attract dirt or dust like a light oil does, and cause undue ware on the gears

Only about 10.25" wide. My pilot edge is the same way. The cowl will have to be relieved for the left plug cap.

Thanks. Looks like I may be better off with a single cylinder like the DLE 61. I was a bit concerned about the added weight anyway.

And if you could flip it around so the starter was facing backwards at the bottom it would fit in most planes out there!

I have not got mine yet to see but I think it should not be a problem rotating the plate 180.

Should work great with stock mufflers but may impede a header. Looking forward to mine.
Been playing with the YS's again and spent my EME 70 money. Soon enough though.

its no big deal to have the starter motor on the bottom as the mouting plate works in both positions.... right now it is the length of the starter motor keeping me from doing that as it interferes with the carb.

Not just because of the plug hole relief. The added weight is a concern. I have seen many success stories of a 70 twin on the 91"+ airframes, but do not see much on the classic 30% ~87" airframes. I like to keep my planes as "floaty" as possible.
