Here's a plot of a NACA0012 airfoil to give you an idea of the nonlinearity of the lift curve at low Re, as well as some of the drag characteristics as compared to my airfoil.

Re: The SHARK!!

Baron and Fred,

I Congradulate you both for taking on a project as this, and seeing it through with so much thought in the design and build. As always you have all the bases covered and the envy of a whole lot of fellow pilots for owning and flying such an aircraft.

All the best in future flight test and maybe we will all get to see it fly at one or another flyin soon.

Also, maybe a kit will be on the horizon ?

I think you would have made Leo pround?

Re: The SHARK!!

When Leo was alive, I got to hang with his camp out here in El Toro several times. I had a friend who was very tight with him, in fact he even was helping fly Leo's family around the country at one point to get them to the airshows. Leo was a huge influence in his life, and What a great guy to hang with. Loved his stories, and his personalilty. Not to mention he had cajones... big ones....

Re: The SHARK!!

Baron,

You and Fred have done an awesome job. It is very cool to see the Shark modeled and it is especially impressive to see the care, craftsmanship, precision and science you have devoted to the project.

How bad where your knees rattling when you did the maiden flight? A very proud moment for both you and Fred I am sure.

Thanks for sharing your pictures and a bit of insight into your engineering work. The hours you spent where huge, the results are priceless.

Regards,

Anna Wood and Len Rulason

I've been involved in the RC hobby for about 9 years (which is about half of my life) and have seen many designs and construction methods, but this one is just awesome!! All the care to the details and the time spent on engineering not only the construction but also the airfoils and all the mechanisms. Simply outstanding!

Re: The SHARK!!

Leo was my favorite airshow performer during the 80's and 90's. He would definitely put it on the deck with never-seen maneuvers like the "computer roll." I'm glad to see you modeled the shark. I wasn't sure where the full-scale ended up...thought it started it's life at ZIVKO in Guthrie Ok, but not sure.
