Thanks everyone.
Today we got to maiden the plane.

Al and Kevin came up to see their new kit take to the sky for the first time.

The DA150 had plenty of pulling power, it only took a few feet and it was in the air. The first thing I found was the ailerons have much more response than I was expecting. The roll rate is incredible. I made a few trim passes to lock it in to level hands off flight and then began to test the CG by rolling inverted on a 45 up line. Itís darn close but Iíll fly it a few more times before I move anything. I made a few up lines and a couple of Ĺ Cuban 8 turnarounds to get a feel for the plane. I rolled up to a knife edge to see how it looked in the air. The colors show up wonderful, I was afraid the Metallic Charcoal was going to be hard to see, but the white popped out and made the plane very visible. I made a few low passes so we could get some pictures.
As I made a turn to make another pass I told Kevin the engine didnít respond well. We kept watching and then the prop stopped. I said a couple of words that I canít post because I will get points form the Mods. LOL I pointed the nose down and I floated back to the runway. I was pleased on how well of a guild slope it has. It touched down just fine and I went to the port-0-potty so I could finish what I started.

When we looked it over we saw gas running out of the carburetor. It must have broke the diaphragm or the fork slipped out. Not a big deal, just sat around too long without use.
I canít wait to get it in the air for the next flight.

Well the pictures don't do the plane justice. It looks fantastic in person. Jerry did one hell of a job on the plane. There was a crowd standing around admiring the fantastic work while Jerry got his nerve up to fuel it and take her up.

He got the nerve, taxied out with Kevin standing by and hit the power. It rolled about 5 ft and off it went. From my point it is the best plane to date. The roll rate will keep Animal Jesky happy!!! Crisp and fast at 20 degrees max throw and that was low rates!! Thats why Jerry had to get to the porta potty soon after the flight. LOL

I want to again thank Jerry for all he has done helping us prove the new design and all the effort that went into building such a great looking and flying plane!!

THANKS

Al

I believe my response was, thats because it is dead stick!

I am also pretty sure that last time we maidened an airplane together it dead sticked as well.

Dr. Evil was kind enough to video the maiden flight. This is an edited version; I cut out some of the back and forth flying. I was getting a feel for the plane, nothing fancy, just making passes. I do see where the engine quit, I was on the down wind pass going away from the runway. It was a long ways out and a brisk cross wind. You can see the plane crab into the wind as I approached the runway. I found a little trash in the needle so it's fixed and runs fine now.
