Here is something a little different that you will not see. It is a 40% Acro Sport IIS.
It's modeled after my friends full scale.

I like developing models of "one of" biplanes.

Happy biplane flying !

Next Project on the books.
Another "one of" biplanes
Drawings are underway for a 45% version of a highly modded Star/Acro Duster.
Will be a 106" top WS
Full scale is a stretched Starduster SA100 to accommodate an IO360 with an Acroduster wing.
I will be working with Chris Murley of Griggs Aircraft Refinishing/Wolf Aircraft to reassemble the full scale.

There are models of the Starduster 1, but none of this specific aircraft to date.

Beautiful plane for sure! It would make a great kit. Feel free to share more info about your creation.

Thx

For my love of biplanes, I finally managed to get a really good condition QQ python - hasn't been flown in ten years or so and has been really looked after before that.
I'm just looking at doing some mods and update things a bit to the design.
I'm looking at ways of making the cabanes tool free - the current design is with 4 screws for each side, which is ok, just a bit fiddlesome with small screws. And i'm in the UK, so I don't wont to fiddling around in the cold and wet ground for a small machine screw when I do drop them. I've seen push through type pins and and I was thinking maybe magnets. The cabanes on these are more stablizing than full load bearing as due to both top and bottom wings having carbon tube configurations.
Any ideas gents ?

Wayne

Cabanes

How about zip ties ? The 4 inch ones are small and might pass through the screw holes .

Does anyone have a set of the TOC Bucker plans they would be willing to sell?

Thanks,
Joe

I was thinking something a bit more trick than that, like quick bonnet connectors on cars. The other option is some thumb screws i suppose to make things tool free - something else to lose.
Could modify to use a pin like on new mamba bipes, but thats some serious modding then.

This was the first Ultimate attempt for the '88 TOC. All of the main wing bolts were 1/4-20 nylon with large hex heads (Du-Bro). They were captured in the wings by a piece of fuel tubing so as to stay attached once unscrewed. The outer struts used 4 10-24 nylon cap screws with heads large enough to turn with fingers (see on picture) and also captured with a thin section of fuel tubing. So, 4 - 1.4-20 for the top wing, 4 -1/4-20 for the bottom wing and 8 - 10-24 for the struts. These were one piece wings of 70". Setup and fueling was about 10 minutes.

I'm noticing the different stab location, who decided to change it in the later very successful model
