Kool thanx

Do you know what size Ti turn buckles this plane uses?

A few more questions; what sized offset arm is that on your rudder; would you recommend that for me; and did you cross the cables?

2.5" on the turnbuckles.

I just used the standard offset from Hanger 9 plus an 4" offset rudder arm from SWB. It is not 100% perfect but it s very close. The cables loosen up just a little bit at full deflection. In flight, it is still 100%. I did not cross the wires.

The container should ship from China next week. So.... 18-25 days later it will hit California (the boycot state) then on to me here in AZ. As long as the container has all the proper papers it should be unharrassed and ill get the planes a week later.

(LOL)

Good deal BH, Cliff and I are ready to go on them. Now trying to decide on a graphics package, they all look really cool.

The maiden was a huge success!!! The plane feels like it tracks and snaps really well. There were only a couple bugs. On the first flight lost the piece of the tail wheel that actually has the wheel on it lol. Flew the remaining 4 flights on the wire as a skid. The wheel is lost probably on that island with Jack and the others ... The other snafu is one of the canisters rotated 45 so ill have to twist those bugs out before i fly again. Over all i have a good feeling about this plane. Oh yea it looks a lot bigger in person ( thats what she said ).

Da170 ks95 rear exit cans and a mix of 8711 ( ele rudder) and 5955 ( wings ) servos with 2 fromeco li-on bats one wolverine switch and a set of awesome Airman wheels to round it out. No weight until i find a buddy with a scale capable.

Oh yeah the snaps stop as soon as you think about letting go of the sticks!!! That is an awesome feeling and one i have never had in an arf. By the way my wings were 3# 2.1 oz and 3# 1.9 oz has to be one of the reasons for the plane snapping so well. The rudder to ele mix was around 8% and there was no rudder to aileron mix needed. The plane is crazy nose heavy as I have it now so thats part of the big % r to e mix ill move the cg back about 3/8 of an inch and see what i have there. There was a 2% mix idle throttle stick to down ele for the down lines and i think it needs to go up to 3% but ill wait to get the plane trimmed out until i get the cg where i like it ( a little nose heavy but not as much as I have right now.)

Bill, thanks for the build thread. I recently had an opening in the hanger and I am going to have to get one of these. I have your old 50% edge (flame scheme) and it’s still flying well, but it’s lonely all by itself. I did have a question about the kit, I was wondering if you could post a picture of the stock hardware package that comes with the yak.

I dont have a picture of the hardware because there really is very little hardware in the kit. Here is the deal, the kit comes with C/F landing gear and also a new c/f tailwheel. You will get all the bolts /screws/ etc you need to put everything togeter in the kit. The kit does come with axles for the wheels, but I recommend you change those out for something like Dubro 3/16" size. This is what you will need:

Main wheels 4.5-5" (Dubro)
3/16" axles (optional)
8/32" control arms (hanger 9)
servo arms
Trun-buckles (hanger 9) (Titanium??)

Then you will need the normal stuff like;
fuel tank
fuel dots
engine/spinner/batteries/servos/switches/etc.

Thanks Bill. I think the Red and yellow scheme really looks great, after the graphics are applied.
I was also thinking about using a push pull rudder on this plane, are there servo bays in the tail or is it designed as a pull pull only system?

Pull, pull system only... The airplane ouwld be too tail-heavy if you had (2) additional servos way back there. (Long tail moment)
