Really glad you guys are coming up -- even the big gun is making it and you know who you are Neil - should be a good meet. Frank see if you could give Stan a nudge to come. I haven't decided yet if I am going to fly. My first priority is to run the meet. We'll see.

Tony,

Looking forward to seeing you. I plan on whacking Stan and Trent (not in the Italian sense!) but with a sledgehammer if necessary to get them BOTH to come to the Regionals.

I hope all is well with you and the family.

Hey Tony, Wouldn't miss it for the world. We're booked in the Hampton and we'll be there. I'm tking my trailer and I can get one more plane in if someone needs a ride for their plane from Maryland.

Hi everyone. sorry I haven't replied sooner - Frank you should wack them either way as long as you get them there. Tank - you need to find a way to stay for Sunday. Glad you guys booked your rooms, I need to touch base with Bonnie and the Microtel to let everyone know where they stand. Looking forward to seeing you all.

Hi everyone - only 1 week away and the Regional Finals is here. The Micortel block is now closed and at last check there were only a couple of reduced rate rooms left at the Comfort Inn. Expecting good weather and looking forward to seeing everyone.

I'm packing up now and getting on the road when Nicole gets home from work. We're going to drive half way tonight. 6 hours in a car with the kiddies is more than they (or I) can take. Hope Redbox has a little something to help...... I should be there early Friday afternoon. See you all there!

Maybe Chase will even get some time in with his freestyle instructor.....heh Neil...

Hey guys, 1 more day and a wake up and the flying begins. Frank have a safe trip. Should be a great contest - weather looks good for the weekend, 24 pilots preregistered and I know more that are coming but not regiistered. All classes well represented including 6 Unlimited, 6 Basic, 6 Sportsman and 3 each in Intermediate (4 if I could find the time to fly) and Advanced. Looking forward to seeing everyone - all have a safe trip.

Re: Black Dirt NE Regional IMAC Finals

Interesting trip so far. I almost lost the truck and trailer in a flash flood in the hotel parking lot. I got woke up by a phone call at 3AM from the front desk and when I got out there the water was about to the middle of the rims about an inch below the floor boards and right at the bottom of the trailer with a dumpster floating towards it. Got it out and then watched the water come up about another foot before it went back down. Hope the flying field is above water........

Hey Brian, lucky the front desk was paying attention or your airplanes would be awful heavy with the extra weight On my way shortly and I hope the field is dried out by tomorrow. See everybody soon

Re: Black Dirt NE Regional IMAC Finals

What a contrast with the previous day!

After the deluges and high winds that rocked the East Coast the day before, Saturday at the Black Dirt Squadron could hardly have been better. Crystal clear, blue, dry and relatively light winds were the order of the day, delivered personally to Tony Bons by Miss Serendipity Herself.

Unfortunately I am unable to make it to the field tomorrow because I have to work later in the day, but it was a good day for pictures and I am checking in for some quick photo postings to give a taste of the proceedings today.

I hope you enjoy. There were other guys taking photos today so I know the event coverage will continue tomorrow and in the days to follow.

Re: Black Dirt NE Regional IMAC Finals

Unfortunately there were a couple of casualties on Saturday.

Ted Hauser's big Pilot Yak experienced an electronics failure that resulted in loss of control and the big beautiful bird went down in spectacular fashion, followed by the loss of another model when the pilot was distracted by Ted's model going down. I don't have the information on the other pilot or model, but I'm sure that info will be forthcoming later in the thread.

Nobody is ever happy to see a very nice model bite the dust, but when it happens the images can have quite an... umm... impact!

So with Ted's approval I have uploaded these photos of a very fine model's demise.
