75"3dhs edge 540 servos?

Im building a 3dhs 75" edge 540 while i dont "cheap" out on my nicer planes i dont usually throw money at over kill parts either.
So extreme flight recommends mks1220 servos for this airframe they are HV around 320oz/inch and .12 sec speed.
To me they are a bit over priced.
Does this size plane need this much servo. Im not a badass 3d pilot more like 2.5d. Want reliability. What are some good alternatives to the mks.
Ive looked at some blue birds but have no experience with them.

I'm a big believer in good servos. Servo quality makes an amazing difference in flight performance. MKS makes a great servo. The 1220 is a good choice, but there are plenty of other good servos to consider. Hitec, Savox, Futaba, JR/DFA, and Promodeller all make servos worth considering. If I was doing a plane in that size I'd strongly consider the Promodeller DS305CLHV. At $70/ea they are a great value and have very good performance. http://www.promodeler.com/DS305CLHV

You will love promodelers. Even their 270oz servos would do great. I'm flying a buddy's 73 laser on 160oz servos and it's plenty unless your flying hard 3d. More then 200 will keep most of us happy on that size airframe

Spoke with John at promodeler seems a good guy with lots of good knowledge. Ordered a set of 4 of the ds305's he said all id need are the 270's but i always prefer to add a little headroom. Hope these work out well

Well I always but high end servos even though this plane does not need 500oz or more of torque. I always assume I will use these servos in another plane and that one may need 500oz so why not buy what will be more useful???

Ready for maiden but have to wait for next week when i have some time. Those promodeler servos are fast and powerful if they perform well in the air and show good reliability hes got a return customer for sure.

Finally got the maiden done promodeller servos performed excellent and were very power efficient. Still figuring out what my max flight times will be but only pulled around 45to 60 mah from my 2 cell flight control lipo per flight in 5 min flights of mixed aerobatics and light 3d. Very nice.

Saw this post before came out the field yesterday seeing this Edge. Sure looks good flying without any trouble. Well done! Although I love my 92 Edge since so incredibly flying!
