Red Bull Air Racing over for good?

It doesn't seem likely to return, given that I see several nearly new Edges on the market lately, and no good news through the rumor mill.

I wonder if it was anything to do with insurance, with the few mishaps they had recently?.. I'm going to miss it, I was thrilled when they started broadcasting it on TV, it was a little sketchy through their web client!

All of the temporary hangar stuff, temp tower etc. have been sold. Stick a fork in it.

Thank god.. Compared to actual aerobatics, RBAR was about as exciting as watching paint dry.

They need to take that business model and try it with RC. It was done successfully at a fraction the cost and risk to human life..Come on Red Bull give us RC nuts a shot..40% racing full bore..

Yes, gone, but why? Red Bull drink sales down? Insurance cost because of water crash and hits? Is RB divesting anything else?

I'm torn, I can't decide if I'm glad it's gone or not, it was cool to see bichin planes being flown by some of the best acro pilots, but as far as racing goes, it was pretty hard to follow.
If they bring it back they will need to find a way to make it competetive, watching individuals race against the clock is just not very exciting; how bout two courses mirrored and a side by side drag race to the finish.

What about just televising unlimited aerobatics? Get Red Bull behind that, and lets REALLY see some amazing flying!

They they could REALLY say "Red Bull gives you wings!"

Not joking at all. RBAR was boring boring boring. I attended the 2 events that were here in San Diego. You literally sat around waiting for 8-12 pilots to fly for 1 minute each, and then wait 3 hours for them to do it all again.

Exciting it was not.
