Give the ZDZ 195 some time to break in. With a proper tune and the right prop it will leave the GP behind

All of them turned about 6250-6300 on a 31X12 or 30X13W falcon. (on the ground) The mid range transition was acceptable - not the smoothest (compared to GP76 which IMHO is the smoothest twin engine I have flown). The ZDZ is about 15% less efficient compared to the GP (my flight time is 8mins where as on the GP it's 10mins) The 2X GP178's I have both turn about 6250 to 6300 on the falcon 31X12. The midrange transaition is much smoother on the GP178 compared to the ZDZ195. The very low idle is also helpful as my landing strip is 300ft at one of the clubs. All in all - both are winners. I'd imagine that the walbro vs the tillotson is making all the difference. |

Put a few more flights on the CARF yesterday.
Tried Falcon 30X13, 31X12 and Mej 30X13Evo. Seems like the 30X13 might not a be a bad option either. The spool up time is faster than 120CC engines. Got 6520rpm on the 30X13 and 6350 for the 31X12. The Mej was at 6450 but it just felt different. (Seems to be more of a low and slow prop only) |

had the maiden on the weekend and it flew well , i ended up putting in about 4 clicks of down trim . i am currently changing the thrust as it only had 2.5 deg so am changing it to 3.5 to match the cowl as it had a fairly good pull to the left on the vertical .
vertical drop for elevator pulled to the canopy vertical drop for rudder was good the 45 inverted upline showed a little down elevator to maintain the line as well as normal inverted flight . so i am thinking still nose heavy , had 4 flights and didn't start to add lead to the tail to test . over all still very floaty on landing and no bad tendency to stall out , finished weight 19.9kg or 43 lb , pretty happy with weight as i have a krill 330lx with a da170 and it is 0.5lb heavier! how is every one setting the ailerons , i just lined up the mould marks with a ruler ? |
