Very impressive servo, very disappointing at futaba USA for charging such a premium. Looks like from Japan it will be.

Like Shawn I have ordered many servos from RC Japan - both BLS172's and 9177's that are installed in my two 40% aircraft. No issues whatsoever with my U.S. purchased 18MZ.

Up here in the frozen north most Futaba items are now special order and you can wait many weeks for receivers and servos. I have ordered from RC Japan three times now and ironically the shipment is almost always at my door in 5-6 days, faster than I can order anything from the U.S. or Canada. I typically save $75-85 per servo going this way vs ordering locally.

It's nice living in Japan. Minimum 30% off everything, and next day delivery.

So to of my models have got some airtime now with these A700 servos as follows:

1). A CARF Pitts 12 with A700 servos on all surfaces. One on each aileron/elevator and two driving the rudder (8 in total)

2). I swapped out x4 Hitec 7955s in the stabs of my big 3.3m CARF Yak55SP for 4 A700s. And, two Hitec 7990s for a pair of A700s on the rudder.

Thus far, I'm dead impressed with these. Point of note are:

a). There used to be blow back when flying knife edge loops with the Yak, when adding power in the last quarter of the loop to level out. This is now gone! 'NO' blowback, whatsoever!

b). The need to sometimes retrim the Yak's elevators has now gone.

c). Power consumption on the Pitts is minimal. I'm running a pair of 4,000 mAh 2s LoPos to the Powerbox and each 10 minute flight uses only 5% of the pack capacity, which is nothing!

d). A couple of club Mates asked me what servos I had in the tail of the Yak, because they were shocked by the speed of movement, watching when I was ground testing the throws on all surfaces.

These are very pricy servos (about £180 here in the UK), but as the saying goes, you (mostly) get what you pay for. And, in this case that holds. These are a definite step up. Hugely powerful, fast and evidently economical on power consumption. I'm going to swap over the rudder servos on my other 40%ers (pair of Krill Sukhoi and a Krill Extra 330sc) with these servos. They are that good.

I ordered a couple to try out on the rudder of a 40% and 35% and noticed it states that the dampener factor and stretcher gain needs to be adjusted for rudder use. I'm running spectrum so is there a way to do it with out running sbus.
By the way they seem to be fantastic on the table...just setting them up.

Are you sure that when they Say "rudder that don't love as fluidly un fast situations", they means rudder from an heli (that is often Very quick and fluid).
Does any user of these servo on heavy load model change this settings? Or not?

It is easy to do

you need to buy a programmer USB from Futaba

then using a PC, you can make the adjustment.

I just got an A700, the instructions do indeed call for that and hte A700 is the aicraft version of this servo.

H700 is the heli verion and even in helis NOBODY would use these on a tail... Massive overkill and not fast enough. The high speed 760uS BLS-726 is the preferred tail servo up to 800 class ( I have a bunch of them).




Anyway, if you are a spectrum user, the only way you can change parameters is to order the USB programming dongle.. sorry. Futaba TX owners can do it from the radio.

There was a time when people would actually test new servos. Not just "I put some in my plane and it didn't crash."

you could say, everyone tests their servos before also, whenever a servo is installed, the pilot / hobbyist will install the servo into the airplane, he or she will plug it into the receiver, he or she will power the radio and move the servo, then he or she will install the servo arm and again see that it moves in the direction he wants it to, then he or she will connect it to the surface or the throttle and then adjust the throw mechanically and then with the transmitter programming, all this time, the servo is being "tested".

Don't know about you, but I have never installed a servo and then taken the airplane off to fly without doing all of those steps.

Maybe I am missing something in your comment 4-stroker, do you know anyone who does that?

Hitec servos pricing is pretty much the same worldwide but the Futaba servos are way cheaper from Japan
