2017 F3A World Championships
OK.. so first off.. the weather down there in Argentina is freaking awful so far.. 20+ mph winds.. but these are the best in the world.. so the contest is on..
So here's the good news.. Team USA has put ALL FOUR PILOTS in the finals! Team USA repeats as Team World Champions! Jesky - 3rd Shulman - 5th Szczur - 7th Glenn - 10th Joseph Szczur is the only Junior to make it to the semi-finals, let alone finals, so Joseph has now repeated as Jr World Champion! Finals are tomorrow.. And Andrew Jesky has a GREAT flight order draw which gives him a really good chance to pull off something! Now the bad news.. CPLR is in full force. He's basically unbeatable, although Tetsuo Onda beat him 1 round in the semi-finals when Christophe had a massive brain fade and flew a wrong maneuver. Crazy thing is, he still almost won the round, even though Onda-san flew a brilliant flight. I don't want to play the sour grapes thing, but seriously.. the halo is insane. Winds are supposed to be just as bad tomorrow for the finals.. but its very likely the contest will go on.. |

Yeah.. The really cool thing is people can't say "He's good for a junior" anymore about Joseph. He made the finals against all the pilots.. Just flying great! His score along with AJ and Jason is what wins the team trophy. No other country even had TWO pilots in the finals.. USA got all 4 in there.. Amazing talent!

Final results, congrats to all!
Tetsuo Onda showed that he really deserved the win in the Finals although CPLR dominated the P and Semifinals. |

Last night going back and forth with Kevin they were talking about the conditions and today having stronger winds. Talk was originally about if they were going to fly today or call it an settle. The vote was to fly.
This afternoon winds were reported at 27 with gust into the 30's ( Kevin is AJ's caller so he has first had knowledge ) Team USA stepped it up with all the adverse winds. Jason up to 3rd, Andrew in 4th, Joseph Grabs JR world Champ again!! and AC Glenn 9th. Not to shabby for his first worlds!! Got to say how proud I am of all the guys on Team USA as I am very proud to say my son Kevin is part of that team, Can't be HAPPIER for Jason and Andrew both like family!! Just so proud!! Al |

According to everyone I know who was there, Onda should have decimated this contest.. He outflew everyone.. He should have won in 2015 too..
