What is the best Hitec (or other) throttle and choke servo for my new DA 60 set up?

any brand of standard digital servo is good for throttle it does not need high torque just a good quality one the grizzz

Many differing opinions -

I have no idea if it’s the best but I have used spektrum 6150s on several planes. Don’t overthink it.

Choke servo can be most anything, since it requires zero precision. I don't use choke servos any longer, but when I did, they were typically standard $10-20 servos. If you set endpoints properly so that the servo is not straining, nylon gears are fine.

Throttle servo - speed, etc depends on how you will be using it. You don't need a super fast servo aside from 3D and extreme aerobatics. The D625 is reasonably fast, and now reportedly more precise than the HS-625MG. It's a good value.

I like the Hitec 5965MG. It's fast, strong, coreless, and precise. I run A123/LiFe setups so don't need an HV servo. This model is discontinued but showed up regularly NIB on eBay and at some online retailers for $50 or so if you get lucky.

Don’t need to spend over $40 for this, even for all metal and 2S lipo compatable.

i use MKS 747's for throttle and choke. havent burnt one yet. ive burnt a number of hitecs on throttle and choke. dont think they like the hard end points. my .02C

Yep, any standard digital. I actually prefer plastic gear on throttle so it doesn't get sloppy from vibration and start making your idle erratic.


Lately Ive been using Futaba S3072 with good results, even on gas helicopters with governors that can drive the servo much faster than our fingers.....

No matter how fast you yank the throttle arm back and forth, pretty much anything around .2 is going to be faster than an IC engine can respond to throttle changes.

If you're MG servo gets sloppy from throttle use, then I would consider trying a different MG servo. I've used the HS-5565MH profusely on my throttles and after nearing 1000 flights, still tight as new.

0.2 is a little on the slow side, 0.14 seems to be the magical number. Slightly faster isn't going to hurt

It does actually. A 0.20 servo is very slow on the response and it will be chasing your movements rather than staying with them. An appropriate speed servo can also be important when it comes to tuning. Too slow and you may not be revving the engine quickly enough to hear lean bog or rich burble.

I'm with Tanner on this one, the slower servo is fine for most flying, For 3D flying and flying post stall, the quicker servo absolutely helps to keep the airplane from parking in a trash bag! Been there done that.
