We Interview Ali Machinchy About this Brand New Monster

Another new big bird to make it's debut at Toledo Weak Signals 2016 is the Hangar 9 Extra 300X 120cc. This is a beautiful giant 3D airframe designed to the 120cc twin and it features a foam core wing with carbon spars.

Horizon Hobby's own Ali Machinchy took a few minutes from his duties to talk with me about the H9 Extra 300X, and the all new EVO 125GX engine, which happens to fit nicely on the firewall! Check out the video and photos below.

I love the plane, but I know nothing about that engine except it seems to be a pound heavier than a DA-120.

It looks like a great plane. But the QC issues the P3 had/has would scare me off.

My first plane was the 35% h9 extra 260 and that plane is legendary. I can't wait to get my hands on this one. We're do I preorder?

I've owned a number of H-9 airframes. The 3.1m Sukhoi is an outstanding plane. Mike knows how to design these really well. As for the Sukhoi, I have seen many people huck the crap out of that plane and they just seem to just keep on taking it.

Another MM design, I'm already on board for this one.

My H9 35% Extra 260 is the sweetest flying bird in my whole fleet. I hear the 300 flies good but not quite as good as the older 260. Wish they would bring this bird back.

But half the skins it seems, being bigger will probably out spin the DA as well, but my boat is like yours has yet to sail.

When will the manual be up? Hard to tell if it is pre-hinged (glued in) or not and also control horns, etc.... like the original one.

This is a nice looking airframe for sure.

If it is comming out of the same factory as the P3 i would be a little concerned!!! Stick to 3DHS or Extreme Flight etc. or wait to hear some reviews on it.. And i would not waste my money on an EVO motor!! Sorry just my opinion

You keep referencing a failed airframe. Not all airframes are necessarily bad just because they by chance may come from the same factory. It may be that particular airframe had issues. Aero-works had a few and they resolved the issue. Other companies have had an issue from time to time. Thing is this, if Mighty Mike McConville has endorsed this with even his signed name, I'd bet every 3w motor I have that airframe will be built and fly right. Had my Sukhoi out today... as with many other owners of this airframe they would attest the same concensus. It simply rocks. Mike don't let no junk bare his name!!!
