FancyFoam

Just put the finishing touches on my first foamy last night and programmed in a few mixes.
Got the Edge540 from Fancy Foam models www.fancyfoam.com
Took it out for a test fly about an hour ago and I still can't the grin off my face.
Man, this thing is a hoot!
With a Himax 2812-1080 motor on the front of it, the performance was unlimited.
I was torque rolling it 2 seconds after I let it out of my hands at about 1/4 throttle
I actually had a hard time getting to stop torquing, flipped on the high rates and then I had some serious control!
This model has a "flying" elevator (the whole horizontal stab rotates) that throws a full 70 degrees in both directions.
I need to get a scale to see what the all up weight is, but i am guessing around 20-22 ounces
It's gonna take a bit of getting used to flying these electrics, I'm used to glow engines on .40 to 1.20 size
I'm sure it won't be any problem, I've been getting plenty of practice on AFPD, flying shockies
Gotta get some photos of this little bird, now that I have done the maiden (silly superstition of mine, never take pics until it has flown).
Will upload them later... I'm off to get another flight in

Re: FancyFoam

I like their foamy's. I like the Sukhoi the best, but the Extra is sweet also. I had the Hacker B20-15L on both of mine, using an 11x4.7 prop.

I've never had a foamy I didn't like or that wasn't fun to fly. All of them flew better than I can.

Nice plane...

Re: FancyFoam

Great job on your foamy!!! I havent flown a fancyfoam model but love electrics and am now in the process of creating a series of my own designs made out of EPP foam. If you get a chance check out www.slofly.com and pick up one of there micro 22's. You can build them under 7oz flying weight and man they are nearly indestructable. Im not a rep just have had a great experience with Steve @ slofly and his awesome designs. The lighter the better!!!! SAFE LANDINGS

Re: FancyFoam

Watch out!
In your forth photo on the motor you have exposed wire leads that will short your esc. You need to shrink wrap those brass looking connectors to avoid this problem.

Cheers,
Steve

I love my FancyFoam Edge also. My son bought me this YAK for Father's day. It came with landing gear - can't wait to give it a try but it will have to wait for my Sukhoi bite the dust.

Re: FancyFoam

Is there anyway to mount a e-flite park 450 firewall mounted motor on one of these planes?
