I have heard this rumor several times but not from any good source.
Let me know if you have please. DLE says no but Hobbico are out of many engines and parts and looks like they are not ordering any more?
Thanks

Hi, my first post at this forum. Hope I have the proper thread and so.

I'm from Holland, just bought a DLE 120 but now want to buy a muffler and the flexible pipes that come from the cilinder and go to the muffler.
I can not find any DLE 120 pipes but can find a lot of DLE 111 pipes.

I looked at the drawings from DLE but also that does not help (or I am looking to the wrong drawings).

My question is: Does a DLE 111 pipe fits a DLE 120 engine?

My hope is that the DLE111 pipe will fit, that will make things easy.

I know they ship to Europe but that is expensive also because of the tax here.

I am running the headers and pipes for the 111 on mine. I did have to take a dremel tool and elongate the mounting bolt holes slightly. Have probably 200 flights with no problems. I did take some silicone tape and tightly wrap the headers in the flexible section to keep them from breaking

I've got 111 headers on mine as well no problem and no modification. I've lagged the flex section recently to keep heat in for the smoke system

I have DLE111 headers on my DLE120... they will not fit out of the box, you can modify them slightly to suit... and they work no problem, be careful of the header length as it important for correct running..

Hi. I have first hand experience at this question. The first DLE 120 I purchased from Tower Hobbies had extension tubes of an outside diameter of 30mm, inside diameter of around what, 28mm? I bought this engine when they first came out. I put this engine in a brand new 33% Sbach and cut the cowl accordingly. However, after around 5 flights, the engine seized up on the right piston I think it was. Several other people has similar issues with the same engine. I sent the engine in to Hobbico and they replaced it with a brand new one. However, the replacement engine had bigger muffler output diameter where the extension tubes go, 34mm outside diameter, around 32mm inside diameter, and I had to cut the cowl larger. It didn't click in my brain at first that the newer muffler exits were larger until I had to order replacement extensions after I lost both of them on the first flight. Dle made the exhaust bigger because I guess the first engines were overheating. I lost the extension tubes on the replacement engine and ordered replacement tubes for a DLE 120. However, the replacement tubes sent were the wrong size because they were for the first DLE 120, they were too small and WOULD NOT fit. So, what I did was order replacement tubes for a DLE 222 because the extension tubes for the 222 are bigger, and they fit the replacement 120 perfectly. They are a little flimsier than the smaller ones and after I put the clamps on them, I drilled a hole through the muffler where they connect and put a cotter pin through it so they cannot come off, because they definitely will come off. So it depends on which size diameter muffler exit you have and I would definitely measure it. I have three of the smaller extension tubes if those are the ones you need, I will send them to you, and they have the clips. They will not fit my replacement DLE120 because it takes the larger extension tubes. Hope this helps.

That cylinder overheated and seized do you have efficient baffling/ducting in your cowl to force cooling air over your cylinders ? Personally I don't like those "standard silencers" as they hold all the exhaust heat right under the cylinders and hot air always rises .
