I have listened to all sorts of complaints about the AJ 230Z or Z230 and the original 200 along with the Z200. The problem is there where several different company's making different variations of these planes and kits. I just read a big thread on Matt Chapman making his and how he liked the Zee cowl but used the upper design of one and the lower of another to design his own variant. So is there a true design , in my opinion unless you are making a scale model of someones actual plane there are just to many options. The Extreme Flight plane just like the AJ are semi scale and are based off an actual plane with what the model designers liked. Remember priority one is they fly good, who wants a super scale aerobatic plane that fly's like a turd.
Great looking plane Extreme Flight Love the Red one!

Yeah I didn't intend to start a war over my observation, just thought it would be nice if there was an alternative classic Laser 200 cowl. Leo's version is the one that most people recognize as a 200, but his also evolved over the years into what's currently hanging in the Smithsonian museum.

I have the 91" version in red/white/blue colors and scale or not, it is simply the best flying plane I've ever owned. After seeing the new Extra 300 V2 fly, I am sure this 35% version will be incredible. Too bad it won't fit in my hangar.

Though I don't have the big one, the 74" is a great flying plane!!

The decision on which one to get is getting very difficult. This and AJ's Laser, the new Extra and both new Slicks, decisions, decisions..

I got the opportunity to drool all around these planes at Nall this week. I absolutely love the red, white, and blue one , and will get one as soon as they are available. I don't care about scale in an ARF, it just has to be pretty, fly well, and in this case accept a Valach 140.
Fasntastic job Extreme Flight!

it's a nice looking airplane, but I think could also pass for an Extra 230.

I agree that they look similar in many ways. Here is Matt Chapman's Laser painted similar to the way many Extra 230s where in the day.
Here is a link http://www.n57.com/matt.htm
Scroll to bottom and it says Matt Chapman from an earlier time in his Laser

you sure that's a laser...it's registration number says 230. Never mind. Always research first.

I love the extra 230. I got to see a very early version fly in the 80s at the Braniff picnic. Ben Morphew was the pilot and he put on an amazing show. I flew the Jim Van Loo design extra 230 for many years. I still have it but it is extremely heavy compared to the current day extras.

Well said, in the end I think the EF laser is the most scale looking but unless you are entering the Scale Masters then semi scale looking with tweaks to make it fly so awesome is welcomed by me.

It is the giant rectangular cowl inlets that I don’t like, looks wise.

Even Leo's laser started life as a Stevens Acro and was modified to make the Laser 200. I too agree with you guys on the cowl looks. If EF would work on smoothing the front I would jump on a 120 size.
