uhhhh....that happens more than you think in every Armed Forces that has airplanes on Carriers.

Watching that video it is unclear on the exact reason the plane didn't completely stop. Carrier ops is a dangerous regime-------and I can't wait to take my Cat/Traps in a couple months!

one of my moms good friends said that he flew in the navy one time, and the fear of going off the end was greater than getting shot down, because you had no time to eject.... he said, that he went off one time and went off the edge, luckily he was at full throttle and he came around to land again.... he mentioned that he caught the wire, to slow him down, but it didnt totally stop him, and when he went off the end of the runway after not stopping, he said the plane dropped lower than the deck of the plane itsielf, but he pulled up on it.... Pretty lucky... i wouldve ejected like in this video!!! haha, but thats just me

Yes, but for a short while,,, I had to cut my school load to ease my work load for a couple month,,,

The crew forgets to activate the break cable for a plane landing on the deck of an aircraft carrier. The plane slips off the edge of carrier and crashes into the ocean.

Looked like a Mig 29, Def was not a Tomcat. You can see the soviet star on the Vert Stab.

it's definately a mig 29. this is why the americans actually turn on the burners when they touch down..... if the plane dosn't stop completely, they can go around..... who knows, why it just slowed down...

Maybe the trap officer set the PSI in the wire system wrong and the pilot got a soft wire.

Do they fly Mig 29's off carriers? I thought they flew a naval variant of the Su 27

Not a Mig-29 but Su-33 (carrier version of the Su-27) - that's not a take off either but rather a landing possibly missed the wire or something malfunction. They take off via the ramp on the right without catapult.

That happens, even in the US. May or may not be shotty MX. The crew did what they were supposed to. If your end speed isn't what its supposed to be and the nose wheel appears to be leaving the deck---eject.


And 50%.....I never trust what the caption says the vid is about. Typically its some dumb reporter that can tell the difference from an A-10 and B-52 let alone a soviet plane on a boat.
