Does anyone have any first hand experience with the EME 35 using one of the canister mufflers Mile High sells?

My clubmates are complaining about the exhaust noise but I don't want ANY reduction in performance....this thing is a beast and I'm very happy with it on the stock exhaust.

You shpuld start with actual sound level measurements. Just because they are complaining doesn't mean it is louder. Might just be a sound they aren't used to. Of course if they fly electrics....

How right you are....

The club president was kind enough to bring out decibel meter today, the EME 35 measured 91db @30 feet passing our clubs 93 db limit

I'm still interested in the canister muffler; esp. if it will increase performance in a meaningful way.

I bought a cheapie Chinese canister/header setup for my OS33 when the original pitts muffler broke. I can't remember where I bought it, but Mile High and several others sell VERY similar looking canisters. Anyway, the stock OS pitts is very quiet and also restrictive. It is MUCH quieter than a DLE30 or 35. The canister sounds almost the same; I picked up a few rpms (didn't measure, but it's slightly snappier now) and it still sounds great--as mentioned, MUCH quieter than most stock mufflers. Satisfied with it for now...

I put in 5 flights with the new EME canister muffler from Mile High.

This thing is QUIET! It should make the electric guys at the field happy.

The only downside is about a 10% reduction in power in the low to mid range...pulling out of a hover is much slower now and I've got to increase the rpm when blipping the throttle in harrier.

I have 2 gallons of gas through the motor and I'm going to switch to full synthetic and see if I can adjust the needles for more low end to mid-range power.

The header is maybe why yours performs so well, I have a couple of the chinese cans and with the heavily convoluted headers loose rpm every time.

Standard dle 30 size exhaust port so any k&s or mtw dle 30 header would do.

HI, Im building a big war bird and the only motor options I can afford and fit due to the very narrow cowl, I wish DA would angle there plugs back.

1. DLE 120
2. EME 120
3. DLE 222 Hard $ to swallow but due able

So I cant find any information rpm wise is the DLE 120 stronger RPM vs. the EME?

It seems like the DLE 120 spins a 1in bigger prop than the DLE 111

I have a EME 60 on my Extra and it runs great, and every other bird I own has DLE and they all run great, but This bird is going to need every little extra HP to fly the way I need to..

60 pounds 130in ws BF109.

Thanks guys.

Try the GP123! Much stronger than the DLE 111/120, EME120

I think the 120 is fine for power. Might come down to weight you need to balance. Maybe mock the rest of the plane first and see what the nose needs for ballast?

I would, weight is not a issue, as we have built one with a DLE 222 and CG not a issue, just had to move the weight to the tail.

The issue is I need a 120 size motor, but has to have slanted plugs as the straight plug makes the set up too wide.
