So it’s definitely not blow back, I can almost lift the airplane with these servos. As for the midpoints I don’t think that makes much since either because the tx is set at 100 percent of the travel for roll and I use full deflection for rolling. I feel like the difference needed is causing so much drag for a roll on the up lines that now power availability is becoming an issue for consecutive rolling maneuvers. (Engine power is another issue I am dealing with

What servos are you using on ailerons and I assume at least 2 on each....

8911hv 2 each

Loose servo mount? loose mount screws? loose control horn? Does it act the same way at varying speeds? I'd be perplexed too and think I could find a mechanical explanation.

Man......I have checked everything mechanically speaking!!! Come on over and have a gander I will even feed you some home cooking! Lol

Carden 126 Aileron differential
So……. With the help of Primo Rivera and others we got this settled and the Mocksville IMac contest this weekend.
I initially set the airplane up with the travel of 3” up and 2 3/4” down travel to “anticipate” any differential that would be needed. Not the best idea to do. So what we did was, started again from zero. Primo used his digital throw meter to set the inboard aileron servo to 20 degrees up and 20 degrees down with the outboard servo MECHANICALLY disconnected. After that we used the balance feature of my xg11 and matched the outboard servo with the inboard to result in 20 degrees up and down with no binding. When I INITIALLY set this airplane up,I followed the Peter goldsmith trimming chart “Pulling 45 up and rolling and observing which direction the nose traveled. “ Well after several flights doing that procedure to get it “dialed” in I ended up with MORE down aileron than up??? It rolled good on the 45 up line in both directions but there was so much drag on that down aileron that it killed my airspeed in consecutive rolls. After the setup with primo and doing equall throws both was the resulting rolls were more or less dead straight! With very little additional drag unlike the previous setup. Now….. why I ended up getting a bad setup from the goldsmith trimming chart with descent results is still a mystery to me. But BY FAR this current setup with equal throws is the most ideal setup. I am still theorizing as to how all this transpired but one thing is for sure, I am so thankful Primo helped me out! It flies like a carden should now!!! Santiago, Thanks so much for your offer! BTW those headers are working out great! AJ |

Good to hear it's resolved. I always start with equal throughs and find little need to adjust from there.
The digital throw meters are great! I see a phone on the wing. Might be the same one I use... bluetooth's the data to the phone app. Just tare it with the ail. centered and set throws equal in both directions. Good looking Carden! |

Thanks! That the one! Very handy!

For checking aileron differential, it should be done on vertical uplines and downlines and see if the nose pulls to one side or the other. |

I agree Zeeb, that is what I did to determine a starting cg.
However per the Peter goldsmith trimming chart (what I did) you pull to 45 and roll 3 times and see what way the nose tracks. (Left or right) in order to determine differential needed. You may have misunderstood me. I need to go back and read my post to make sure it was clear! Thanks mate |
