H-King 94.5" Navy Cub!

Ive had the smaller electric version, now they came out with the bigger gas / ep version! 2400mm (94.5") Navy Cub!

On mine, I put a 20cc RCGF gas motor, factory muffler, all HK servos, extensions, the fancy electronic failsafe switches and LIFE batteries. The build was pretty easy, had no surprises, and all up RTF it weighs for me 14lbs 12oz on my scale with a little fuel in the gas tank (forgot to weigh it before flying).

Flying, flies light, big wing, light weight, plenty of power! Loops, rolls, stall turns, all with ease.. Touch and goes, tight patterns, no problem. Video coming very soon! Got 3 flights on it tonight, maiden included, very happy with it. The RCGF20 started easily, ran great (still a little rich, it has zero time on it!), and sips fuel! With a 6-7min flight, it still has almost 3/4 of a tank of gas left. What a great combo! Flying with Spektrum DSM2 12x guidance.

Pics and videos to follow asap!

hi, nice videos and flying,
strange that more user videos are not available online.
since model is priced fair and does not show some bad habbits like more serious warbirds do.

do you think a bit smaller power output from a 4 stroke gasser would be a problem?

just to check in with info about Saito 21cc 4 stroke,
it has enough power for scale flying,

I am currently solving some issues with engine not working ok under cowling, loosing power, erratic RPM,
without cowling it runs/flies great over 6 flights.

any tips?
tried to duct air to cylinder, and outlet lid to divert forward coming air away from below,
and rellocating carb pressure hole to inside of fuselage...

next will try to work on carb intake ducting

Its ok to bring fresh air to the area of the carb but don't connect your duct directly to the carb intake.

I know you probably don't want to do this but I would suggest increasing the area of both the cowl air intake and exit. No substitute for good air flow. On some CUBs we have had to open the stock CUB cylinder ducts to the cowl just a bit to prevent stagnant and hot air in the upper portion of the cowl. We all know it is important to keep an engine cylinder cool but it is just as important to keep the carb area cool and prevent any excessive pressures in the cowl that can affect how the carb works.

Thanks for the input and tips.

I had a hindsight of a bubble or two when tunig the motor with cowling removed.
and could not figure where does that air come from.

so long story short,
it seems plane flew OK without cowling because metal filter next to cilinder was cooled by outside air stream, and plane flew well for 6-7 long flights (~30 min or so)
and under cowl it was pushed closer to cylinder and less cold air around, so fuel boiled in it(acetone first probably) which messed up the carb totaly,

I left carbb inlet untouched, did not install any pipes or additional vents.

Saito fg21 (3 min 53 sec)

now it works like it should, no filter, only cotton clunk in the tank which I always use.
so it's a new one for me, maybe someone has reported metal filter problems when near hot cylinder.
