Adding weight to the tail....

I have 2, 2250 r/x packs and a 2100 life pack as far back as I can get them in the confines of what is "Acceptable" space inside of the airframe.

I personally do not like visible weights on the outside of the plane. I would like to add some in the tail section without it being a safety issue.

My question is have any of you placed weights inside of the elevator halves? (Picture attached)
Would be glued in place using light ply and epoxy as close to the fuse as possible. Boxed in basically.

Or has anyone put lead shot in the elevator wingtube and sealed it with silicone to stop it from shifting inside of it during flight?

Crazy stupid ideas and could possibly bust the tail section off or.... Yeah, try it?

I remember someone else posting putting weights in the tail tube. I wish I remember how they did it... It was clever too.

You probably never going to get that servo out if you epoxy them in place!

Yeah. Just a little. DA 70 in an EF 88" Edge. Plane flies great the way it is. I just feel that it can be better.

You're right on that. Will look into the tube idea.

I would definitely not do it the inside the elevator. I know you hate the look, but I have a couple of weight adhered to the back of the fuse on my extra. I never look at it. One plus of course is that I can always take it off. I can see expoxing weights on each end of the tube as one possibility

I put bb's in the stab tube and held in with bits of rags until i found the ideal CG. then I removed them and mixed them with epoxy and put them back in for a more permanent install

+1
Get one of McDonalds fat straws and fill with lead shot...after you get it like you want it...put a bit of epoxy in both ends and when hard slide the straw in the stab tube. This makes it removable if later you change engines or something that makes the Ballance different

Another option is if your plane have slots for the rudder in the back, you can use one side and use an old or damage servo case with lead weights to install, you can even have different weight size by filling the servo body with more or less weight.....the end result looks clean and you can always remove if not needed...

Thanks for the responses everyone!

Was able to get some weights that fit inside of straws. I'll be playing around with the CG this Friday and will report back.

Last plane I had with this problem, was a 78-79" extra with a DA50 on it,,, I built a plywood tray over the rudder servo that cantilevered the packs into the fuse aft of the canopy,, Wish I had a pic for you,, it worked out very well and did add very much extra weight

Worked out perfectly.
Added enough weight inside of the tube to get this thing to fly hands off inverted.
The upline roll to inverted is now straight and true.
She swaps ends without losing any altitude now.

Thanks again, guys!
