Re: 8th Annual Columbus IMAC Challenge - May 24-25

Add another Canuck to the fun! This will be my first time to this event but if Kurt and Mike are running it I know it will be good. So far we have Don, Rick, Ted and myself making the trek from the "Great White North". Don and Rick are about 4 hours away and Ted and I are about 6. I should be rolling in about 18h00. Shhh don't tell my boss I am skippin out early from a job site for this.

Sounds like Clinton and our own Ottawa contest, last weekend, had the same thing in common... severe wind. Saturday we had 3 x 40%ers smacked into the ground during landing as the winds were close to 25 mph and at 90 degrees to runway. To make things worse we got mechanical turbulance off a row of trees behind the pits.

Looking forward to seeing some of my friends in NCFR again!

I see there will be a photogropher on hand to record the event.

Last weekend the Ottawa Radio Control Club hosted their first IMAC event. They had two memebers taking pics all weekend long. During the Awards on Sunday every pilot received a DVD with every shot that had beeen taken of their airplane or any shots they were in and an 11" x 17" Poster shot of their airplane!

WOW! We were deffinitely not expecting this and it was a nice touch. The photogrophers took over 2000 shots and were up to the we hours of Sunday morning printing off the posters then a few more hours Sunday around noon burning all the DVDs. Thanx guys!

Guys, I met the photographer today. He is not the guy that has taken pics here in the past, but he is a great guy. He was taking some test shots of me and my plane today, and they are incredible! On some of the in-flight pics you can read the dash on my plane. The camera he has is HUGE, im sure he will be taking a bunch of in-flight pics during the weekend. If you guys want to see some of his work check out his web page. The contest pics are in the "airplane" gallery, "Westerville Model Aeronautics Association" sub-gallery, and finally the "IMAC" folder.

Was out practicing (Yup, finally did it!) yesterday and blew the covering off the stab!! Sure wish I knew where the heck I put the replacement covering that came with the Sukhoi arf!! Just discovered that NKHobbies is just 1.8 miles from my new job. Hope they have the ultrakote I need at lunchtime!~ Guess what! I'm now using a higher rate for my spin and roller, and they've both improved as a result. Just have to remember to turn off the switch for the other manuevers!! See yall tomorrow!! Seth, don't you have something you need to do this saturday besides fly?

Flew the free plane four times today. Second flight I did a tail slide as I watched the prop stop. Ruh Roh! Luckily I was up a decent height, came straight down off the end of the runway, slipped her a bit and sat her down easily right next to me. Come to find out my motor had come loose! Fixed that, did some more playing with the CG and went to check the batts and the dowel in the front of the Canopy broke off! Fixing that as I speak (or type I guess). Hopefully I can get at least one or two practice flights on my freestyle . . . We'll see!

See ya guys tomorrow!

Jamie,

The only word Mark and I have had is....
Matthew Laine and someone else (not sure who) mid-aired and Matthews plane is toast.
And like I said...that is ALL we have heard.
Will post if we hear more.

Matthew and a boy named Adam mid-aired. Adam was flying a 50cc QQ Yak and lost it immediately. Matthew lost a wing panel and actually flew it all the way back to the runway Hempel style, but when it touched the ground, it just shattered . . .

Really sad to see both go in, specially for Adam since it was his first IMAC ever, and he was doing really well in Basic.
