83in WS Spitfire Mk.IX

Since December 2014 I have the Brian Taylorīs Spitfire project on my table. Maybe youīve already seen some of pictures I will post there. I changed almost whole construction of the fuselage and designed new formers and ribs. I hope thatīs the way how to achieve low weight. For this project I make some fibreglass and resin parts, such as cowl, air scoop, cannon blister, gunsight, antenna mast, control trim horns, exhaust stacks. Here I will post all pictures with some delay.

The cowl is detailed with some dummy screw heads, rivets and hatches. I try to make is scale as it is possible. It is not easy to keep the scale size. Some of the rivets are little bigger, than they should be. I like canopies with the frames. The first design of the canopy frame was very smooth without detailing. I designed another one with some detailed and designed for sliding canopy.

Very nice work. Do you have a web site where you sell your parts?

As I mentioned, here are some more pictures. For nose part I made also spinner and air scoop. Years ago I purchased Seagull 2030mm WS Spitfire. That kit is not the best Spitfre you can find. But I was really pleasured, when I found out, that some of my accessories will work with the Segullīs Spitfire. The wing cannon blisters were pretty easy detail.

The Seagullīs Spitfire was good for testing the parts. Some of the other items such as exhaust stacks or cannon blisters are already around the world on some other Spitfire. But for me it is necassary to find out how to fit them and how to finish them. Here are some samples.

I found a love in 3D designes. Now we are able to make the model scale as it is possible. Including details in cockpit or some bigger parts such as the oleo legs for landing gears. Iīm goging to make full cockpit. Right now are some items available.

Stabilizer and elevator are without any modification. I followed the plan. Whole plane would be covered by some FG.
Elevator rudder will be covered by solartex. Easiest way how to imitate the fabric covering.

For 1/5 scale Spitfires I make some resin accessories. BT Spitfire is 1/5.33 scale. The size difference is not perceptible. Sometime I use 3D designes and 3D printer to make the master model. But sometime it is better to make the parts without 3D designs. In two of the pictures is rearview mirror on Razorback. Some guys put my parts on their H9 30cc Spitfire and TopRC Spitfire.

My friend says: Small details make big differents.
Thatīs true. Here are some pictures of two cowl. The one I purchased years ago and another one I done last year. What do you think, which one looks better?
