Bluegrass IMAC Challenge


Overall, there were 8 pilots flying in the Bluegrass IMAC Challenge contest. In no particular order they were: Kenneth Boucherie, Gil Major, Ben Batts, Kirk Hutchings, Ron Freeman, Louis Matustik, Donn Hinderliter and Greg Palmer. These pilots flew a grand total of 128 judged sequences.
This contest was flown according to modified rules.
Greg Palmer won the Basic class. There were 2 pilots in Basic. The winning order was: (1) Greg Palmer and (2) Donn Hinderliter. They flew 8 known sequences (4 rounds). The scores ranged from a low of 4,614.4 to a high of 6,000 (a range of 1,385.6 points).
Kenneth Boucherie won the Sportsman class. There were 4 pilots in Sportsman. The winning order was: (1) Kenneth Boucherie, (2) Kirk Hutchings, (3) Ron Freeman and (4) Gil Major. They flew 8 known sequences (4 rounds). The scores ranged from a low of 5,332.7 to a high of 5,970.3 (a range of 637.6 points).
Ben Batts won the Intermediate class. There was 1 pilot in Intermediate. The winning order was: (1) Ben Batts. He flew 8 known sequences (4 rounds).
Louis Matustik won the Advanced class. There was 1 pilot in Advanced. The winning order was: (1) Louis Matustik. He flew 8 known sequences (4 rounds).
In addition to the standard classes, there was 1 special class: Seniors.
Ron Freeman won the Seniors class. There were 2 pilots in Seniors. The winning order was: (1) Ron Freeman and (2) Gil Major. They flew 8 known sequences (4 rounds). The scores ranged from a low of 0.645 to a high of 0.670 (a range of 0.025 points). The tightest competition was for 1st place in the Sportsman class, with only 136.468 points difference between Kenneth Boucherie and Kirk Hutchings.

Hey Ken,

Thank you and the Blue Grass Modelers for having us down for the competition. I had a great time and enjoyed Henderson, KY - particlarly the river walk. We found out that Ken is only 19 years old - as someone mentioned - probably one of the youngest CD's around. Everything went very smoothly. Only the weather kept it from being a perfect weekend. Thanks again, I'll be back next year.
