Deadstick on Takeoff

So I rebuilt the carb on the DA100 and went out to fly my Extra today. It was hard starting and seemed lean, so I reset the needles back to factory. All seemed well after that so I took off... about 15' off the ground she quit. There was a stong crosswind, and I ended up landing downwind in the swamp. Or at least tried to. There was a loud crack when the gear hit, she stood up on the spinner and fell over on her back.

All in all I was pretty lucky, minimal damage other then what's in the pics.

Now that sucks. Any idea what caused the DA to quit?? They're usually really reliable.

The motor was perfect before I messed with the carb. It seemed lean. Maybe I just didn't run it enough before takeoff and it had some bubbles in it. We'll see. Hopefully the repair will look as good as Daniel's!

I'm looking for some opinions on what to do about the wing damage from the wheel pants. As you can see it's pretty minor.

What do you think - put some covering on it and forget it, or fill it in?

Decals man! I would'nt even bother with that, find yourself a nice looking vinyl cut decal you like and slap one on each wing and consentrate on the fuse.

Gently pack some balsa filler in there, and sand it with your thumb.
Wipe it with alcohol, and cover that biatch!
Look as good as new.

I am with Sleepy on this. A very easy fix for the bottom of the wing.
