Re: Lost my QQ YAK; bad incident at field

It is a Gen1 Yak just as the first. There are some Quality issues but it flys so great I can overlook them especially for the price of the Gen1.

Matchless, I want to go and planned on it, not sure though since I only got two flights on this thing yesterday. I might be there, you going?

I just read all 9 pages. This has to be one of the greatest RC stories ever. The guy who shot you down deserves tons of credit for his actions. It is nice hear about people of honor. You should buy him a beer, everyone makes mistakes, but it takes a true man to admit them and even a greater man to fix them.

Great story, Its nice to see that there is still lots of good in this world. The guy that shot you down deserves some credit, like other guys have said, most other guys would've walked away without a word.

Hillmanr2, definitley supporting the Canuck troops over in Afghanistan, hope they can come home soon!

Yup, I’m goin. I was asking thinking you might want to split gas on the deal. Let me know. I’m going down early Sat morning and driving back late that evening…..

I put a few more flights on the Edge today to feel a bit more comfortable with it.

Re: Lost my QQ YAK; bad incident at field

Well what I thought was a glorious ending cannot be just yet. I went to the EAC Merigold,Ms fly-in yesterday with our good friend Matchless. I took off on the first flight and noticed the motor wasn't sounding too good so I landed her. I had Jack help me tune the needles and when we started it back to check our settings the motor made a loud bang and locked up. Something broke loose in the motor (everyone thought a wrist pin) and cause me to be stuck watching all the action instead of participating in it. It really sucked! Now I have got to contact DA and send the motor back once again to have it looked at. On top of all that we are on the way home and my (pregnant) wife calls me and says (I'm headed to the hospital), I thought OHHH boy! Anyways I spent the night with her at the hospital with my plane in my van parked in the hospital parking lot. Boy what a day! I'm headed back to the hospital, the story is bound to continue!!

Dang Anthony! I hadn't heard about the hospital trip. Is she about to deliver, or was it something else?

Re: Lost my QQ YAK; bad incident at field

She is having some premature labor stuff going on. Doctor said this morning that he was going to deliver the baby if the contractions start back after he takes her off this medicine she is on. He had her on some medicine to prevent labor until he could get two doses of steroids in her to help the baby's lungs. He says the baby should be fine. I'll keep you posted if we get a baby soon!!

I gotta find some time to call DA. Thanks for your help with the engine Jack; I may call on you again once I get it back from DA.

Wow. I just read through all the posts, all the pages and everything.

Tragedy, to turmoil (maybe not a good word) to somehing very great.

I say that it was good enough for him to own up to what he would have done. That's what flying is all about. When you fly and you do something wrong there IS a way you can work something out and get it back together.

Sometimes people get in a tizzy for nothing. They get mad and then everything turns out good and they're like: Why was I so mad?

Anyways, it's great to see that you have everything back in the air. I was looking at those pictures and I just couldn't believe it. I honestl have NEVER seen anything more destructed than that.

The bigger the toy, the louder and harder the SMACK!!

Great job on a new plane and happy flying that new one!

Re: Lost my QQ YAK; bad incident at field

Anthony really had one heckuva day!

When the motor locked, everyone turned to look and see what went in. The engine sound had stopped suddenly, but we didn't hear any carnage...? Then we all saw Jack01 slowly rotating the prop through and I knew what happened. Anthony handled it all in stride... I would have been cussing and griping, but he was cool through the whole ordeal.

My wife and I just had a little girl last month (I found out while driving that Anthony's 4yr old and my newborn have the same name! LOL) so I understood Anthony need to get home soon after the event was over. Then halfway home he got the phone call, and I could tell from his side of the conversation where he needed to be, so I put the Chevy towing the Jethro Bodine trailer in overdrive and busted arse to get him back home.

I wanted to call ya all day yesterday to find out how everything was going, but I remembered from the hospital that cellphones are pretty verboten there.... Best of luck to ya bro, and If you need help getting that motor out to DA, let me know.

That is one heck of a club! It's like a Cinderella story for airplanes! It sucks you lost so much time building it, But it's got to feel good having your plane back!
